Since my last post yesterday at 11:45 PM EST I have left the tower running. Memory usage seems to have peaked at 29,604K. Seems the new exe is a big step in the right direction.

CPU usage running at a steady 2%.

Now I can't get mine to go under 55meg. I have tried shutting down DS and restarting, rebooting the PC, etc... As soon as I open it within seconds usage climes to 55meg, and stays there.

Thank you to everyone who tested this new build especially over Christmas

Here's some answers to various questions-

rOadToIS please contact the support team via email and they will be able to process any advisor changes.

subset you may have found a bug I will ask the dev team how files with no extension are scanned.

interact, rootkit protection is coming in Jan we just want to close this memory issue first so cannot give a guaranteed date.

All, I've raised the issue about advisor not displaying with IE and bluescreen with SBIE in our bug tracking system.

    Thank you

    Kate.

Yes, here too. The new .exe is using less resources and is stable. This box is on 24/7 .. DS is holding in the upper 20K's.

    Good work, DS!

    Simon,

I did some tutorials a few months ago using an older version of DriveSentry. I need to update them at some point but they should be a good intro. I hope this helps and yes that's me doing the voice over :argh:

Winpat is a cute little Poodle. DS is a Rottweiler.

My suggestion - Dump the Poodle & get the Rottweiler. (Grrrrr)

Thank you very much. I've just had SBIE upgraded to a 3.32 version & will install (again) DS later on, so will give you info if the bug is still here.

    Best regards

Hello y'all and happy new year,

after using the new exe file, DS keeps popping up on start up to update the database. It didn't do this before since I am on a purchased license.
    Any way to fix this?
Also, DS does not remember settings/options changes anymore after reboot.

    Please advice.

Other than DS and Online Armor, my only currently remaining resident is WP-P. I like it not so much for it's protection/defense capability, but for quick start-up management and it's overall informational capabilities.

The Poodle and I have .. bonded. :)

I'm running it alongside NIS2009 and WP Plus with no problems in WinXPPro-SP3. I can't answer on MBAM, not running that.

    Moonriver,

There is a number of checks we've put in to test for memory issues. The signature download screen also uses the IE control so we need to see if this is causing mem issues when displayed. The test exe has some quirks which will not be in the released version.

    Thank you,

    Kate.

@ Katie. Hope you did not catch any grief for your generous gesture & great work of providing the beta.exe and required .dll.

Hope you and yours had a great Holiday and have a wonderful New Year.

You deserve a raise, you do DS proud. :thumb: :D

    dada1980,

There's a new feature to upload malware on the Advisor page which has been 'coming soon' for a few months now  The dev team are waiting for a third party to complete some changes before it can go active. The dev team are chasing them up and as soon as I know more I will post a message.

    Thank you,

    Kate.

    Hi Katie,

I tried drivesentry few days ago everything was ok but when i tried to play Prince of persia ( 2008 ) DS grows up to 800 mbts memory use and making my computer laging.

I'm on Vista 32 home edition
Intel dual core duo 2.5 ghz
    4 gbts RAM
    Nvidia 8600M GT

I switched to threatfire but it looks not handy for me.
I came back on DS yesterday and try it on another game and everything was ok (rainbow six vegas 2) but i'm a bit annoying by the high memory use you can see on pic on a normal use (just internet and utorrent).

when i leave DS and relaunch it, it run around 48mbts but sometimes he has peak (without doing a scan / on resident only) and i have to relaunch it to make it back on a good memory use.

Can you tell me if there is known issues with prince of persia ?
Maybe you have cludes why DS run so high on my pc ?

    Thanks.

Well, I've managed to push DS off a cliff.

    -XP-Pro SP2.
    -945D processor with 3gigs ram.
-Two accounts in use on the D/T, both admin.
-Other security software - Online Armor and Winpatrol +.
-Using the newest provided .exe and .dll targeted at fixing memory leak issue.
-DS was installed here originally on the D: partition, not the default C: Program Files path.

Yesterday, with DS having performed without issue since install, I decided to add additional folders for DS to monitor. I added/duplicated all the folders for my wife's account (those same default folders DS had added for me from install, ie - "documents and settings\favorites" and my documents and my music and etc.)

Then, for giggles, I decided to add each available (entire) partition on my system drive. There are three - C:, D: and E: .. so I added the c: and d: and e: "folders" to DS.

Sometime later I "logged off". Upon logging back into the machine, no DS icon. I looked at Task Manager, DS isn't running, though I'd clearly seen a brief DS splash screen announcing it's launch. Hmmm.

I then attempted to launch DS via it's icon. Same thing. I'd see the splash screen briefly but DS would not run. I tried running DS numerous times again, both from having logged off/on and re-booting. It continued to refuse to run.

I logged onto my wifes account, DS runs!! I log off her account and back into mine, same problem .. DS will not run.

I uninstalled DS. Reinstalled build 3.1.2.32 (then re-added the new .exe and .dll) .. this time into the default C: path.

Everything is back to as it was prior to my "folder" additions.

    Wonder what happened?
