Drive sentry becomes broken after overwriting with the new exe.

Error message: The application has failed to start because cryptopp.dll was not found.

Thanks for your effort in getting this fix out anyway.

The zip with the dll file seems to work. Thanks Katie for going the extra mile, especially on a holiday. Merry Christmas!

Regarding ram usage - It used to use about 98meg. This new version seems to settle around 28-42meg, a vast improvement. I would like to see it a bit lighter, but this is tolerable, and I believe the program is moving in the right direction. I plan to install it on some of my other systems for further testing. I am very optimistic at this point. Probably will test it a week or two and then send them my $10.

Also, it seems to pair very well with Comodo Internet Security. Not sure if it is a fluke, but CIS seems to use less ram when DS is running. I have used CIS on a number of systems for many months, and normally it uses about 9-11 meg. Strangely, I have seen it run as low as 5 meg since installing this latest version of Drive Sentry. I doubt there is a connection, but figured I would mention it anyway in case anyone else notices something similar.

No difference for me still a working set of 50MB.

I'm running it alongside the Avira suite.

BTW - FF users I had to bring up the download page and then use IEtab to make the page "IE"ish before I could download.

Are you on Vista? Seems like usage on Vista is much higher than users of XP.

    No, good old XP.

  10. After trying the new files you gave us. I decided to go back to using old version that file did not seem to remedy the problem in the long haul. The advisor window where map is displayed is missing thus the curtail of memory leakage to a certain extent.clicing on the advisor just opens my browser homepage and loss of functionality of advisor plus i notice little difference in memory usage compared to before i copied the new files as time goes on its gaining just like before as you use other programs and DriveSentry is loging files or events the memory usage creeps up. then you delete the logs just as i did before and memory usage levels return down to miniscule levels. i seem to recall reading posts by others at drivesentry forum pointing this out plus your own people at drivesentry replying in same about the advisor map being the possible cause but i think theres other factors besides that being the only cause of memory leakage. I hope you can get this fixed by next release otherwise I find this program to be top notch and would highly recomend it's use to others, I am running Windows XP home edition if that matters any.

Had the same problem: BDOD's linked to NTFS.sys a short period after launching a SandboxIE'ed application (in my case it was uTorrent).

How about any possibilities of fixing this bug?

    Best regards

Many thanks Katie. Finally got back to my break-me PC with DS. D\l`d the exe and dll. Working well now. Mem usage on re-start of DS is 2,148K on an XP Pro machine. Will leave it run a few hours to see if it climbs at all.

EDIT; Rebooted the tower. Mem usage is 30,012. Will now leave it run for a few hours and see what happens.

    Uh

Is there a D/L Link with everything right all together we can access?

Curious but nice to see some action being taken.

You will already need to have DS installed. Then d\l from the link in this post. Disable DS then copy both the exe and dll into the DS install folder allowing the overwrite. Away you go.

    just a thought

why to use DS anti virus instead a well known one? (kis, nav,eset....)
they are better than DS AV ever be.

or its better or reasonable to disable ds AV engine , use its HIPS capability alongside well known AV o_O?

Well, who knowns, because to test DS On Demand is pretty weird.

A test with the default settings misses a lot of malware with unknown extensions for DS and the results seem to be poor sometimes, mainly depends on the stuff you test, like real malware files (.exe...) or files with detection names (like Trojan.Win32.KillMBR.f).

So you have to add the wildcard * to the extension list, to test at least all files with an extension. :cautious:

But... you will again miss all malware files e.g. in badly done collections which have random names without any extension, like 1h4v3n03x73ns10n.

To add an option to scan all files On Demand would probably not be a bad idea.

    Cheers
