Just downloaded and installed Dr.Web Antivirus, but again a big disappointment, slow.....and opening configuration takes ages. Also froze my
pc several times. Don't understand the fast release at all!
Holding on to Avira Premium......but I've used Dr. Web for years, without any problems and now this again.....same story as Nod32? I hope not!

It's the 1st release.Give it a time.I'm yet to see a bug free release of any security app ,especially on vista.

You didn't take the AV & Anti-Spam into account. Users of DRW AV&AS get the update free, users of just the AV can upgrade for the price of a renewal.

It's not beta anymore, so this release should be just fine. I've reported the slowdown several times and nothing happened with it. It's a shame and didn't expect this from Dr. Web.

I scanned some malware collection that I have and it does seem to detect more malware than the previous version. These detections are mainly these "Probably Trojan.Packed.xxx". Perhaps it's the FLY-CODE/Advanced detection they mentioned.

Initial install was slow, computer froze a few times, but it was after using the Norton removal tool which was probably the main reason for it. However, removed using Revo uninstaller and reinstalled and it is now working superbly, web pages load quickly etc.

i would have really liked to see the complete suite though with firewall and all included. i just prefer all in one as ling as they actually have a good firewall..

firewalls are fine as long as they work and are easy to understand. Most dont apply to this critria.

    I installed Dr.WEB Antivirus 5 only upon peviously installed Dr.WEB Antivirus 4 on a Vista SP1 machine.

Installation went flawlesly, only thingy it left the old Dr.WEB 4 update task behind and created a new one -I wrote about it in their forum.
Don't know if it's a bug or just happened to me, someone can check it.

Spider remained fat and black, same practical minimalistic GUI, faster smoother scanning, light on resources, self protection on.

What more could a Dr.WEB AV fan ask for?

Too bad I'm not into suites, I'd try the Security Space.

It works, but it refused to unpack properly if launched via exe...I downloaded it 3 times and attempted to launch it normally and it always errored out. I unpacked it using winrar and manually launched- seems to be working ok.

I think its an installer problem not related to KIS.

One thing I will say is that the prices are very darn good and I will give it a full thumbs up for providing a lot of protection at 28 Euros. Apart from that, well, time will tell :D

Dr.Web main website reports 490348 records where as Dr.Web Live reports 452,663. I wonder if this has anything to do with version 5 release.

I think it's a misculculation. Notice that in 2008-12-18 at 13:33 they took back 37,641 signatures.

    Anyway I have v5 and I don't see 490348 records, I currently have 453115 (latest update).

I think you should schedule the scan from the Windows "Scheduled Tasks."
