Dennis, I understand that you are trying to make a point. But why do you not ask them, referring to this thread.

    Regards,

Is this thread invisble to them? Since this is a major flaw in ATI2009 we need to keep this on the top for those looking to buy ATI2009. They need to know what they can expect and be warned. Thank you for asking Hans L.

I certainly see you point, Dennis, but the world is like it is and humans are like they are. Sometimes, we simply do not understand it/them. In other words, "should" sometimes does not cut it.

I have still not gotten a response to my request for a refund. It will be interesting to see what they say.

    Regards,

    Hans L

Your right, that is why I try to avoid saying "should." I would rather say hope. What people should do is their own guilt. Money talks though. When it doesn't come in it can change the way people do things. I hope. :D

Dennis, as long as you are only asking this question in this thread, you are no threat to Acronis. They will just sit tight. You must confront them head on. Right now, you have no bite!

I just reminded Acronis about my request for a refund (they have had two day already).

    Regards,

    Hans L

Thanks Hans L but as I already stated it is also for those looking to buy ATI2009 and give them a heads up on this critical flaw.

    Hi,

I upgraded from TI 8.0 to TI 2009 two days ago. I probably hadn't done this if I had read of this issue before.

Although I don't use Outlook, this issue does indeed worry me. If TI apparently deletes .pst files - what else does it delete?

A backup software that deletes files is a 'worst case scenario'.

Should I better switch back to 8.0 until this issue is clarified?

    Why doesn't Acronis respond?

    Stefan

If I boot from a TI cd and create a full backup each time (not windows) will I be safe?

This issue is happening to users in the windows op sys right?

I think you will be safe. But doesn't that defeat the purpose of having it run in Windows?

Has anyone reported missing files with a backup directly executed from Windows by the user? That is, with no scheduling or other intermediary involved.

Mine has only happened during a missed task and then it backups immediatly when it is in Windows.

Is anyone having the missing PST files using the ATI2009 recovery console outside of Windows?

Hello all and happy new year. This issue (or should I say nightmare?) had me quite concerned...

For the past 2 months my daughter has been using ATI 2009 (latest build) to backup her Dell Dimension 4550's 60GB hard drive (20GB free) with 1GB RAM. The PC has WinXP Home (SP3) and the entire MS Office 2007 suite including Outlook and my daughter can not afford to lose any of her files on the PC. She creates a full image backup of her entire C-drive onto an external USB drive twice weekly and ATI 2009 has been working just fine.

When I first read about this issue (a month ago) I decided be safe by also backing up my daughter's C-drive with my disk-imaging program (Drive Snapshot). As I have complete faith in DS, immediately after she and I backed up her system with both ATI and DS last week I decided to see if ATI 2009 would restore her system with the backup she had just then made, and it did. Other than ATI 2009 taking a lot longer than DS (backup and restore), it seems to be functioning as expected (Outlook and everything else works perfectly before and after the restore)!
