A squared is amazing at prevention with ther AS and Behaviour blocking in 1 package, they are known for some FP's and not the best removal, but as long as ur system is clean right now, it should keep it clean.

i know this thread , i also can read what the tests checked....netchina (very old) + SSM (older lol) score great... most of the test level are attack inside the pc (malware) , mamutu block none (score 2%)...it got to last place...i dont understan EMS , it doesnt ring any bell over thereo_O:doubt:

anyway my choice is for COMDO which i used ,FREE +HIPS+FW +AV (which i dont instaelled atm)...and it hit sec/first place... and its free ...did i mention that? :)

You know the other thread, but it seems you didn't read it in detail.

I think I've clearly stated why Mamutu is misplaced there and that it is no wonder, that it performed poor.

To keep it short: Mamutu blocks real malware, not test applications. Mamutu has a great self defense against shutdowns by real malware, but it will not stop the user from manually shutting the program down (like test tools do). It will never feature TCP/UDP/ICMP traffic filtering as tested because it's not a firewall.

If you want to discuss about Mamutu, I'd suggest to do it in a Mamutu thread, please don't try to hijack this a-squared thread.

10x for the explanation :thumb: , i dont try to hijack this thread , most reply talk about mamutu , so i also add my line about it :)

so i understand that mamutu is some sort of hybrid ? half ids half some sort of anti malware , with updated sig?...

A-Squared would fit your description (Mamutu + Anti-Malware), but Mamutu is a behaviour blocker/IDS.

EMS said it block real malware, how can it block real with not knowing them using sig data files?

if he can block real malware ones with out sig files it a pure HIPS...(like ssm , RTD , netchina...)

    A-Squared is a pure AV + mamutu

BB that can block real malware with out using sig files? and also faild a test which use same sort malware behaviour....

i repeat the test use malware behaviour , so how come mamutu hit last ?

this thing doesnt make any sense to me o_O

Mamutu is comparable to Norton AntiBot. It also blocks real malware based on behavior and not signature.

AFAIK Mamutu operates by monitoring a series of individual behaviour events until sufficient malware traits are aggregated in order to flag up a warning. This prevents pop-up overload from legitimate processes that may share individual similarities with malicious ones.In the case of these tests, there is no true malicious payload, only if something 'bad' was really happening would it get intercepted. It'd be easy for the developers to 'pass' all these tests by incorporating specifically tailored detection (as done by some less reputable vendors),but Mamutu is rightly concentrating on real malware detection.

Anyone that believes Mamutu will only block 2% of real, active malware has never tested it in a real world scenario.

For anyone who is going for this generous deal, I find that the subscription date shown inside the A-squared license tab ends on 12-13-2009 despite I purchased it earlier today. :thumb: My guess is that it does not matter when you order between now and Dec. 13th and the license will end on 12-13-2009.

    Cheers.

I bought it but have a problem with Vista,

It all loads up but and says its active however

    1) Windows does not recognise it

    2) When I unzipped some malware there was no detection. I right clicked and manual scanned the file and it was detected.

So I thought ok may be its on on exuction. So went in via Sandboxie and double clicked on the malware. No detection. Not even a sqeak from IDS. So in summary I don't think its installed properlly although it says it is.

I have sent in a support ticket. I am a bit disapointed really.

    Cheers
    Jlo

No, you always get 3 days more - automatically. :)

Payment processing and software installation sometimes take some time. We want to ensure that everyone can use the whole year and add 3 days to the license period.

I guess you mean the windows security center. We're currently working on the integration. Took some time to get the needed API information from Microsoft, but we've got it now.

Sandboxie runs the malware in a safe environment, that means, a-squared can't watch the behavior (and no real dangerous action on the system can be performed while it executes in Sandboxie).
