    1. What's the major difference between them?

    2. Is the detection rate of Norton GE 2009 lesser than AV 2009?

    3. Are there any feature removal in Norton GE 2009 as compared to AV 2009?

    4. I need some screenshots of GE 2009's new/removed features.

    5. Does GE 2009 has higher scanning speed than AV 2009?

    6. What's the difference between memory usage?

    7. Currently I'm using a trial version of Norton AV 2009, should I "upgrade" to GE 2009?

NIS 2009 is already so lite. I would not spend anything to upgrade to the gamer edition.

The point is it is probably a marketing scam. They are probably going to charge more, considering you can get the regular version free after rebates, for not much difference in performance. The regular version uses about 9-12 meg. Let say the gaming version uses 6meg. On a gaming PC with 2-4gb, 5meg is nothing.

The gamer's edition has the same price as the regular version.

I'm not really convinced by these gaming editions because most serious gamers have at least 2GB of Ram installed, so any gains will be minimal at best and almost certainly unnoticeable. If Norton gaming edition can also suppress alerts while gaming? and the difference in price is small then it's probably worthwhile.

Have you watched the product tour video ? Go to its page http://www.symantec.com/norton/norton-antivirus-gaming-edition , click "View Product Tour" and see the boy crying because he couldn't do it , he froze :D :D :D He has forgotten to turn of his antivirus protection and it has just started another scan . :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ROFL ROFL ROFL ... :D

Such a marketing strategy I have never seen before . What an AV will be and what a gamer's PC will it be that will froze as soon as the AV starts a simple scan ...

I didn't realise that, so it looks like the Gaming edition is complete marketing gimmick.

    OMG that was funny! :D :D :D

Good that the new Norton products are good, but it's a shame Symantec still use the same old bull.

If the gamer's edition can turn off updating during full screen activity and anything else which can impact on a limited bandwidth connection, while the regular edition can't, that's a big win for anyone concerned about latency i.e. gamers.

Agreed. I'd seriously consider it as I'm fed up of pop ups during games. It's seems so obvious to have something switchable to counter this.

I also think that these are just the marketing gimmicks. The underlying definition files are really same for these apparently different security software products.

One more question: Can the Norton GE 2009 GUI theme, be reverted to the original Norton AV 2009 theme?
