You're correct, but it is more for occasional scans "just-in-case", you know =)

All systems behind a Netgear Router and all have Spywareblaster and Firefox (with Adblock and NoScript) installed. Rootrepeal and SAS Free used for on-demand scans.

    Desktop: nLited Windows XP SP3

    Resident
    Avira Antivir premium
    Outpost Firewall Pro 2009

    Backup
    FD-ISR 3.31.233
    Drive Snapshot (with Frontend)

Desktop: vLited Windows Vista SP1 (UAC and Windows Defender Disabled)

    Resident
    NAV 2009
    Vista Firewall

    Backup
    Drive Snapshot (with Frontend)

Laptop: vLited Windows Vista SP1 (UAC and Windows Defender Disabled)

    Resident
    KIS 2009
    SandboxIE

    Backup
    Drive Snapshot (with Frontend)

All systems run very light and are all extremely well protected for their uses. Only change i will consider making is to add OA Free v3 if the slow bootup time is improved in a future build.

    Hi TVH,

    1. You indicated that your using, Avira Antivir Premium together with Outpost Firewall Pro 2009 on one of your PC configurations.

I am thinking of going with this configuration and was wondering based on your experience with it, which Web Guard did you "disable" o_O
.... Disable the Web Guard in Avira or disable the Web Guard in Outpost Firewall o_O

    2. Your other setup uses NAV 2009. Which do you find better Avira or Nav ? ... trying to decide which would be better to use with Outpost Firewall Pro 2009.

    Thanks in advance!

I hate webguards in general and so i personally have both disabled. Dont really see any use in using it. That being said, i personally would prefer to use Outpost's Web Control module.

Avira is better in terms of detection and so id recommend to use it with Outpost.

Just setup one of those new EEE netbooks for the family to use. It came with a free 90 day trial of NOD32 which will suffice for now. Installed defensewall for added protection and also returnil to keep things clean and control program execution. this little beast runs surprisingly well and performs great for its intended purpose.
