I'm pretty sure there was a thread on this before.... they are testing a HIPS that ess doesn't have...

And with Kaspersky they say they surprised when a malware is allowed to change/create a registry entry when they have left registry guard off- makes sense doesn't it :D

I'm really upset by this video and don't understand the point of it either. They disable all modules, run a piece of malware and wonder why it wasn't detected? Then run a manual scan and again, they wonder why a computer restart is required to get rid of the malware? I'm sorry, but it's really ridiculous. Maybe next time they'll uninstall ESS/EAV completely and will wonder why malware wasnt' detected...

    This video is really ridiculous.
Can you expect ESET to detect the malware after disable all protection components?

At the end they said the HIPS of ESET is proved to be the weakest......but the trueth is NOD32 has no HIPS at all!

SecurityTeacher.com is a Agnitum site. Guess they are trying to promote their Outpost range by bashing other people's HIPS capacity.

    Sad ....

Well, that depends on what rig you're running it on. All my household computers, and the computers at my work, gets real slow with F-Secure. Sad really, since we have lots of licenses, now on third year (comes with our ISP), and all versions, now on V8, has been the same. Only very little difference on the impact on the rigs, through the years, a little less heavy now, than it was 3 years ago, but still not near enough, to run as smooth, as an AV is supposed to do. I know, that the detection rate, firewall, etc. etc. is top notch, and that makes it even more sad, really. I guess that the Finns should stick to their making of mobilephones, GO Nokia, GO! :D

    Cheers

a very odd thing happened today, i saw a known burglar in the garden. now our alarm system has door contacts and passive infra red detectors. this alarm system is meant to be great.
so before i went out i decided it would be wise to disable the passive infra red detectors, the door contacts... top quality!
guess what i get back and the SOB has emptied the house!! i was livid! i called the so called great alarm company and they told me i was a @!?# for disabling the passives? there's no justice! i want a refund!

We just can't rely on detection anymore... A product needs some kind of HIPS in there app in our days, IMO.

Well i don't trust a thing in Eset products but here i still fail to understand why this guy disables program's components before his testing...
