Hello, this seems to have just begun yesterday/today.

I'm running Vista 64 bit Ultimate.
I'm using Acronis TI Home Version 11.0, Build 8,053.

When running a scheduled once-weekly task, I get "Operation in progress 0%".

The task is to run a full "system state" image on my C drive. The True Image user interface does open up, and it shows that task as "running", but when I try to "cancel" the task via "Manage Tasks", it won't go away.

I also tried to log onto my Windows Vista Admin account and perform a "Start Task" on this one, so that I could get my system state. When I do this, I get the normal "Operation Progress" dialog, with the two status bars at the bottom. The process seemed to be going through my files and folders on C partition, but eventually hung up on this one:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\en-US\

That's all I have is the folder name. There is no indication of which specific driver may have hosed up the process.

Any thoughts on this? I thought about deleting the System State task and re-creating it, but before I do that, I thought it would be a good idea to post my problem here.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi again.

I hate to "bump" this, but my post was unanswered and way down on "page 2" of the forum index. And the issue I'm having is really becoming a problem because everytime I boot my system, Acronis True Image tries to run that "missed backup" of my system state.

And every time it gets stuck/hangs.

Short of un-installing and re-installing TI, is there a way I can stop this from happening and/or fix the underlying problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Can I add my two pennies worth of request. Like Karma, I have been experiencing this problem. Only started happening this week, never before. As I type, I have been running 'System State' for almost an hour and still at 0%, Used to back up happily within 20 minutes. David.

I just went to the website and learned that a new build was out there. The info page says that it fixes the problem I'm having; creation of System State backups.

    So I'm downloading that.

    I'll post again...

Not wanting to dash hopes too soon, but if you are talking of Build 8101, I have this installed - and my problem of no "System State" backup remains. Keen to hear if you have any joy. David.

    Greetings!

I am so sorry I didn't get back to you all any sooner. I did install the latest build, TI Version 11 /8101, and I immediately took manual images .. a full image and a full "system state" image.

I don't remember how long they took, but both seemed to run and and (I think) they both completed successfully. That was a couple weeks ago; and unfortunately, I may not have been paying full attention when I ran them.

As usually happens, the next thing I knew, "life" intruded with other matters and I got busy.

I'm back now, and just tried to run a manual "System State" backup again. And it seems to be hosed up; on the very same folder, "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\en-US\" .

I let it sit out there for about 10 minutes. No CPU usage, no apparent disk activity, and the TIB file still shows a file-size of 0 kb.

I canceled it, and like the old build, it refused to cancel. It looks like I'll need to reboot to knock it out of my system. Consequently, I would recommend that you all avoid scheduling an automated task for "system state." Because every time you reboot, the task would try to kick off again and... get hung again.

To fully remove it from your system, you may need to do an un-install of TI 11 and then re-install it but not add any "system state" automated tasks.

Man...I really had hoped that it would work with that new build. But from now on, I'll just stick to full and incremental/differential backups and skip taking "system state" backups.

And I'm going to hold off on buying any new versions of TI until my confidence is restored.

That slight pun was intended because I believe in having a sense of humor; but this should be DEAD SERIOUS to Acronis; even for an older version of their software. It might not happen for a few years; you know, until something changes in Windows Vista 64 that prevents TI Version 11 from working althogether. Or it could happen sooner, like if I buy a new computer and need a new backup product.

So, confidence levels are damaged right now...

    I'll keep you all posted.

    Hello Karma and everyone interested,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for delayed response.

    Please do the following:
    - Download the updated version of Acronis Scheduler
    - Extract the archive contents and start install.bat file
    - Wait for the process to be completed, reboot your machine and see if the issue persists. Please note that it's recommended to recreate the scheduled task.

If the issue does persist, please provide us with the additional diagnostic information so we could investigate this issue thoroughly and provide you with a solution:

    1.
    - Open Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information;
    - Choose the "Save" option in the "File" menu (or "Action" menu under Windows 2000), enter the "File name" and set the field "Save as type" to "System Information File (*.NFO)";
    - Send us the saved file.

    2.
    - Copy schedmgr.exe file to the root of your c: drive
    - Click Start – Run, type in cmd, press OK and issue the following command:
    C:\schedmgr get report > schedreport.txt
    - Send us the schedreport.txt file in the root of your c:drive
    - Please run the schedmgr.exe program by double-clicking it from Windows Explorer
    - Enable logging by using the following command:
    set logflags support
    - Please reproduce the issue and send us the schedul2.log file which is placed to the same folder as the service file (program files\common files\acronis\schedule2)

It is recommended to turn off logging after troubleshooting by using the following command (from the schedmgr.exe command prompt):
    set logflags 0
    set lf_registry on

    Thank you.
