Norton 2009 & Registry cleaners - need help testing

I seem to be running into a problem with my Norton AV 2009 trials and I am hoping some people here could help me corroborate my findings.

On two separate computers (Vista32HP and Vista64U), I have hit some snags where the programs will not start. The error code (1003, points to the CCMailApp portion of the program. This only seems to happen after running either CCleaner's registry cleaner or jv16 Powertools. A quick reinstall makes everything work properly.

Is there anyone here who can run a similar test (Run CCleaner, reboot; run jv16 Powertools, reboot) and help me decide if the problem is related to one of those two programs, or if I need to do more checking on my machine before submitting a bug report to Piriform or macecraft?

 

Hi, I don't get any references for NAV 2009 (16.1.0.33) - Vista32HP after running CCleaner (2.14.750) and JV16 Powertools 2008 /Normal modus (1.8.0.47)

Witch entries are you deleting that causes the problems.

 

I'm not intentionally deleting anything; the problem is coming from the registry entry disappearing that is supposed to allow the CCMailApp to load.

 

I have both ccleaner, jv16powertools and NIS2009, and never had any problems.

Besides Norton's self protection mechanism won't allow other programs to delete registry keys that belong to Norton. Jv16powertools will give you an access denied error when it tries to delete Norton registry keys.

 

Not intentionally , but because CCMailApp fails, you must have selected something in both programs to be deleted.

Witch entrys, perhaps not direct related to Nav 2009, are you deleting

 

Using jv16, create registry snapshots by using Registry Monitor, this would allow you to see what changes between snapshots. Now if you can narrow it down to some activity, say install or registry cleaner you might be able to spot what is changing and why.
