ESET not in system tray

I has a question,

I can't find my ESS icon anywhere in the system tray not even if i expand it. I have to go to start > all programs > ESET to open ESS. It is detecting viruses (i guess, it detects EICAR testfile) but when i open ess from the start menu it's not showing me the welcomescreen, so i guess ESS is turned on. Why cant i find it in the systemtray? It happens only sometimes, every 2 day i think.

Make sure that your video adapter/card drivers are up-to-date .
Make sure that there is a start-up key for the GUI (egui.exe).

If this doesn't help , try reinstalling the program (uninstall + clean install).


If you are unsure how to accomplish these , just post again .

 

I wouldn't worry about it, as it happens to me quite frequently. Ess is still working properly. I think it is an XP issue as I find there are other icons missing as well, not just ESS. If you restart your PC, more than likely, all the icons will return.

 

Often this is a "timing" issue of competing resources when logging into your account. If so, then a simple way of handling this is to:

(1) Let your machine settle down before logging into your account, turning off automatic login if necessary.

(2) When logging in to your account, if all your tray icons do not appear, try logging off the account (not rebooting), and log back in again. This often resolves the icon problems.
