Moving parts of a Backup Archive

I was creating an backup when I ran out of Disk space. I chose to complete it on another drive. Can the files backed up to the other drive be moved in the future? For example, tomorrow I delete files from the original location and now have the room for the files backed to the other drive. If I simply move them to the directory with the original directory with the rest of the archive will it work or is that even possible? Thanks

 

If the files are numbered by TI for any one back up you should be fine. Naming would be along the line of mybackup1.tib mybackup2.tib, etc. If you have a spare hard disk handy you could try a restore to see if it works.

 

I named them ie; "Main XP 112608" TI adds the extension, would that still work?

Using Acronis True Image Home 2009 you can save volumes of the same backup to various places. You can save full, incremental and differential backups of the same data entity (e.g., a partition, disk, E-mail) almost anywhere you like. In the earlier versions of Acronis True Image Home all backups belonging to the same data entity could be stored only in the same place. Now you have the ultimate flexibility in choosing a place for backups of the same data entity - a network share, CD/DVD, USB stick, FTP-server, any local internal or external hard drive, etc. Furthermore, you can now give meaningful names to incremental and differential backups, for example, something like SystemDiskbeforeRepartitioning.

If I move one or more volumes of a backup after it is made will TI automatically track it or will I have to browse for it and add it to the Restore page?

Acronis True Image Home 2009 can track backup volumes even if they are located in different folders. All previous version require one single location for all volumes for correct recovery.

I purchased the upgrade to TIH 2009 for this capability.

I want to create a restorable image of my drive to my system drive, move it to DVD, and then store incremental updates of this image to my system drive, to be backed up on MOZYHOME.

The instructions and documentation of TIH 2009 are confusing. Here are the problems I'm having doing this.

1) I have about 36 gb of used, and about 56 gb of used disk on my system drive. After I do a complete image to my system drive, there isn't enought space to do an incremental backup to my system drive. This is a surprise.

2) If I try to move the archive to DVD, there is no clear instructions for how to do this. I gather I have to use "backup" again, selecting "data" and chosing the tib files. When I do this, and select "incremental" since at this point there is nothing on DVD, I get nothing saved on DVD, since I guess nothing has changed

3) If I use "remove" to delete archives, I always get a message that it won't do it, but it has already done it!.

Please advise.
