    Hi

my wish for the next version is to optimize the time to recover files from cartridge.

Acronis is ok for recover full drive, but it's very long to access and recover some files.

Is it possible to add memory, to not to have to list all the cartridge each time.

Back up exec had this, and know the place of files into the cartridge

    thank you

Acronis or one of the other imaging companies needs to be compatible with whole drive encryption. There are DIY solutions but hard drive encryption is being required more and more.

I don't know if this feature has been suggested or not, but how about an auto-shutdown feature where once the backup is complete it will shut windows down.

Enable the use of the SYSTEM account to perform the backup in scheduler.

    Causes:
    - Since you need administrative rights to run ATI anyway, the task created with it should be able to use the SYSTEM account as well.
    - User may change his/her passwords all the time, doing so will require to change in the ATI schedule as well. If there are more than 1 schedules it is a tedious job.

Edit: Is there a significant reason on why ATI doesn't use Windows' built-in scheduler...?

    Bootable CD Label

OK, I have downloaded and installed Acronis TI Home 2009, and have created the bootable media (CD) as recommended. Now I could go type up something on the CD label, but with such a professional backup system as this, I sort of feel that is too "cheap".

I would like to see an image of the boxed version's Recovery Disk CD label to be made available? Either included with the download or at least available for download from the Acronis Web Site?

Found a program that works with Acronis 11 http://www.securstar.com/home.php DriveCrypt plus Acronis is a bit slow and as imaging has to be done sector by sector small partitions are a must. so now changing my wish to more speed please. Using Bart Helps but still much slower than normal imaging.

    1. Have the features in the product work
    2. Work with USB drives without falsely detecting read errors

? Shouldn't you make a differential backup then? That would solve your problem I guess. Especially if it's verified ok, you could just script the deletion of the older files.

    Goodmorning
my wish list should make Backup Server more reliable. The backups format must be compatible with any acronis server in order to guarantee a distaster recovery of backup server itself. Actually if backup server have an hardware disaster failure all backup managed by it are irrecoverable and ureadable by any other acronis product.

Another wish for Acronis Server itself is to verify the quantity of free space necessary to make the backup BEFORE starting : if the space is insufficient the process is paused until manual confirm of an operator (cancel or free space). Some windows system that receive a cancel of the backup task in progress needs manual restart for unlocking files and process otherwise strange windows error appears (explorer failed, some windows process failed etc).

    Thanks
    Michele

Automatic Exchange logs delete would be great. It isn't fun to use Circular logging feature on exchange.

It'd be nice if TI would shut down the computer when the backup is done.

Then you cannot restore the image e.g. three incrementals prior.
It could be a requirement from other users....

    EDIT:
But it's your wish. Sorry for comment.

    Hello

My wish is the possibility for an 2nd administrator id, to launch a backup task of acronis set up with first administrator id.

Actually it is not possible although into windows server, many users can be administrator

    thank you

I want to add 2 items for TIH 2009

    1. Ability to make a copy of a scheduled task so the copy can be customized for specific needs while retaining all the other settings, like source selection and archive destinations

    2. Ability to pause a task in progress, or one about to start, without editing the task to change the schedule. A resume would be needed to restart a paused task.

I want the secure zone back like it was in version 11. It auto named and deleted the oldest archive and I never had to touch it.

I want to have the task option back where I could make a full backup and as many incrementals as I wanted and then after a set number the task would create a new full backup and incrementals. I hate having only one full backup with a 100 or more incrementals.

I want consolidation to delete the incrementals. Consolidation takes longer than a full backup on my computer and it does it almost every day. It needs to put a bigger dent in the threshold that it broke that made it run. It deletes like one incremental and the next day it breakes it. It would be faster to make full backs every day, but then I would not have enough space to keep a month or more of backups.

I agree 100% with your first para.
If I ever were to use incrementals I would like to be able to switch off consolidations altogether.
I would instead create full images interspersed with say seven increments.

Until this and other areas are addressed in V2009 I will stay with Version 10 which manages backups in the SZ automatically and perfectly.

    Dear TI developer team!

I just installed ATIH 2009, created an image and tested restoring files and directories. As Christmas is near, I thought to make a wish-list.

    * TIH 2009 scans every partition when it starts. This is really time-consuming and perhaps not necessary, if the user only wants to extract a file from a backup or shred a file. It would be great, if I could disable this automatic scan.

    * A window with progress bars is shown, when lenghty actions are working.
At the beginning, nothing happens, no progress is indicated. The user could think, it hangs. So I think, some other additional indication of progress would be good, perhaps displaying a string to show what's going on.

    * The Restore Files and Directories wizard:

    1. The file column of the right list window to select files from the backup shows only the first 2-3 chars of the filename. The user has to enlarge the window by pulling the border with the mouse and then enlarge the column.
A maximize button for this window could do this with a single click.

    2. In the summary before finishing, it would be great, if the number of directories and files would be shown. If the user forgot to uncheck some objects, this would be a hint for him.

    * The first start:
On the first start, One-Click-Protection is suggested.
What about letting the user select, if s/he wants a complete image of all partitions of the hd?

Thank you for providing this great tool,
    Fred

I warmly support FredJ's sensible suggestions (clarity, simplicity, reliability)

I warmly support FredJ's sensible suggestions, that IMO tend to improve the efficiency, simplicity, reliability of the program (What a contrast with some other suggestions, that oppositely tend to recklessly increase the weight and complexity of the program, hence would inevitably further increase the number and gravity of problems).

The ability to install a light version of the program ... I have no need for all the poohaa, I just want a decent and fast backup of my system drive.

Cancel option of the scanning during startup. Not just cancelling the other drives, but cancelling the scanning whatsoever. In fact, in light mode you will not need that scanning.
And no! I am not wishing for an already existing "one step" backup option, which is crippled in all sensible ways.

Serious improvement of the support page for registered users. If acronis has nice tools (like the v10/v11 uninstall tool) place it there!!! If webspace is a problem, replace some of the ever repetitive praise with some more helpfull text.

Improve the manual drastically. I was surpised to see that even the manual is filled with commercially driven text. But at the same time, it doesn't even describe some of the more essential procedures of the program (like the startup scanning).
    Seriously... the manual is rubbish.

Media Builder - better support for USB key rescue media

Media Builder should tell the user if the usb drive has a valid partition table or if it is in superfloppy format without partition table, and optionally create a partition table.
Windows default format for removable disk drives is superfloppy format without partition table, but BIOS often requires a partition table for boot.
At the moment, one has to use tools like "HP Key Drive boot utility", Partition magic or Linux commands to create a partition table.
english description of diskpart mentions superfloppy format without partition table: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300415/en-us

    Hello,
some additional thoughts concerning the time consuming scan at the start of tih2009.
If I want to extract a file from a backup or even check the build number as described in the manual, I have to wait over 15 minutes. This is a bad joke!

I could think of options for this for the user to choose:

    * Scan automatically on start.
    * Do not scan on start (some features disabled).
    * Ask me.
    * Scan automatically when needed.
    * Start to scan and let me work with limited features until the scan completes.

The last option would mean to do the scanning in a separate thread and activate the scan-dependent features when the thread has finished.

    Thank you,
    Fred

I would like the one-click option just that...one click.
If you could allow a shortcut for the single click on the desktop, that would be great for the majority of my clients...
