Well, it's working mutch faster now with this upgrade and the virusdatabase is growing rapitly. All that and with heuristics in development, it will improve in time.

Has anyone conducted a meaningful review/test of the Comodo version 3 antivirus application ?
By meaningful, I 'm talking about a reputable lab such as Virus bulletin, Virus.org, etc.

I personally installed this on every fam PC of myn, the AV is VERY good at catching the latest malware... Best of all it's free of nature, no cut downs etc and the labs are getting over 20GIG of malware a month. 4,000 signatures a day on average are being created (And yes every day you get those 4,000 signatures) But it will improve once hourly updates start, which is due end of this year. The nice thing is once that happens finally once you submit a sample, it will be added to the database in the hour and you will get a response through email of your submitted submission in the hour... All being worked on in good time. :)

Anyway soon Heuristics will be added... soon. :) And the heuristics very rarely produces FP's, and quite good based on tests of other AV's Heuristics.

It all takes time... :) Watch this space.

I've installed COMODO Internet Security 3.5.55810.432 via updater, and on the version before it CIS 3.5.54375.427 I did a fresh install. I did not install the "Trash" as I have Avira premium, I don't think I would be doing myself any favors by installing the AV part of CIS.

Nope, 2 AV's is never a good idea. So you did well i asume. But you could give Comodo AV a try. Uninstalling Avira offcource before that. Then see how you like Comodo AV.
It's nice and comfortable to have one pakkage ;)

Yes it does need improvement. But with surfing with common sense, you would do fine i think. Along with webmail instead of Outlook or something simulair.

I started using comodo Firewall Pro when comodo realesed version 3. CFP's Defence+ gave a real lot of popups and pending files were a problem too (some people had 800 files to go though a day). But that was the first version(and November 2007), now they just keep getting better:D:thumb:

You have misunderstood. CIS AV protection is *not* an AV program in that sense. It has *no* conflicts with an already installed and onguard AV at all.

I really like the CIS. Probably my fav security program. I just hope as they improve it they do not make it too fat.

I installed this version. Seems explorer.exe is alowed to run any executable without any interception in this version. The behavior persists even if I put explorer.exe under custom policy mode in Defence Plus rules( Computer Security Policy). There seems no way to apply custom policy to explorer.exe.

Am I true? Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks

Having just read this post, I am surprised that forum policy allows this sort of comment.

There was a recent thread about SSUpdater, where it was rightly pointed out that posts of this sort reflected badly on the forum and that site was discredited.

There is no post option to report a post as far as I can see, if there was I would not have posted this here.

I know Matt isn't a lab (and that you want just the antivirus part) , but still Matt's video reviews are incredible. A must see.
