i picked up a very nasty virus last night, was attached to a trial of nod32 i downloaded, my screen icons and taskbar kept disapearing and and i got the dreaded 2009 anti virus pop up, after three or 4 flashes of icons everything stopped and i could do no more, i managed to reboot and when my icons were active i got onto the net and downloaded malwarebytes and managed to run it, it found 19 trojans, i ran prevx csi it found only 2, and one of these was definatly a false + i ran bit defender and it found nil, although i did stop the scan at 80% on BD, i will be purchasing malwarebytes

    UPDATE******

I am currently running a bit defender deep scan and it has found 4, will post full results

Was the trial from a file sharing site, say rapidshare?

You have to watch some 'trials' or 'free programs' people are trading/sharing, no matter how tempting the product seems to be. Usually packed with some 'extra' nasties.

Best place is straight from the company website.

Regarding the file you mentioned, it seems to be continually changing on a day to day basis. Other programs will usually pick this up in a few days time. By that time, another 'version' (of the malicious program) has been released for public consumption.

Malwarebytes is an excellent malware cleaner. It's pretty well the best for cleaning already-infected systems. It's good at detecting & cleaning rootkits too.

I downloaded Malwarebytes today from all three download sites - Majorgeeks, Download.com, and SecurityWonks. File hashes did not match.

Try MBAM OR SAS when you can get it from the net. Also a really acurate hunter and killer of sneaky beats is AVZ.

They won't match, it's due to the sales referral schemes...
