I installed NIS 2009 on 3 computers. 2 have XP and my laptop has Vista. The laptop can't connect to the Liveupdate server and says to check my internet connection. Internet is up and running fine. I get error codes 8921 and 229. Anybody else experiencing this? Tech Support couldn't help me. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had Liveupdate problems with NIS 2009 on two computers, and one is a laptop with Vista installed. In both situations, the chat support technician took control of the computer, uninstalled, then reinstalled NIS 2009. In both situations the problem was resolved, and I've not had problems since. If I have another problem with NIS 2009, I think I'll first try a reinstall before spending the time waiting to get hooked up with chat support. NIS 2009 installs so quickly now, it may be worth a try

I was a beta tester in the summer for NIS 2009 and had sporadic problems with LU/pulse updates working properly- and I still do with the finished version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled dozens of times as well as used the Norton Removal Tool multiple times following each uninstall as their techs recommend. Still, the program does not consistently update automatically and you have to do a manual update at times- and even that is not working at the moment.

I brought this to their attention on the Norton Community board and discovered others were having the problem. It is a bug in the program that they promised to resolve with an update, but have not produced one that works if they have produced one at all.

If your program is not being updated properly, it is likely not something you have done or not done.

This is the only AV that I have tested that did not update properly- and I tested more AVs and their versions than I can count over the years. The program is flawed at the moment- at least for me. :thumbd:

I understand that an update has now been released that addresses the issues ppl are having with automatic/pulse updates.

It gets downloaded and installed via Live Update and updates the program from .125 to .33. A reboot is required after the update installs.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled with the Norton removal tool, and no luck. I have Mailwasher and it's not working at the moment. Windows mail not working either. If there is a patch, I guess I'll get it with manual updates since LU isn't working for me.

From what I just read on their board, the update has not resolved the issue.

I would consider using another AV. The concept of having to do a manual update to get the program to work is absurd. The program is only as strong as it's weakest link- and based on that :thumbd:

I'm still showing version version 16.0.0.125, so haven't received that update through LiveUpdate.

Seems like it's only for NIS 2009, not NAV 2009?!. My NAV shows .125, but hell, i don't have any problems with LU anyway, so i guess it's ok. :)

    Cheers

I manually ran LiveUpdate before my previous post just in case, and it didn't find anything. How long ago did you get the update? I haven't had anymore problems with LiveUpdate, so I guess I don't really need it at this point.

I just clicked on the Run LiveUpdate button in my NIS 2009. There was an update, but it didn't update to the newest version. I still have version 16.0.0.125.
