Trend Micro is now giving away Carbonite.com 20 GB online backup with Trend Internet Security Pro 2009.
    See here.

NOTE: The offer is for retail purchase only. I had a chat with Trend Support, those who bought online can ask for a refund and buy a retail version to avail the offer. Refund will be for $69.95 only, any service charge/tax levied during online purchase will not refunded.

Any one having problem with 2009 and Vista SP1, Mine would not connect when I clicked on Subsciption or update subscription to 2009.
It would connect and update definitions but not subscription.
It kept saying i did not have an internet connection when I did.

I uninstalled and went back to 2007 and it worked and updated subscription.

So far support hasn't come up with a fix yet.

Hughes ISP with proxy, Networked, Tried direct connection and had same problem

Try to reinstall program and see if it' helped. If I remember well I had the same problem but believe me I can't remember how I solved it...maybe You can also try to download new installer from Trend Micro official website.
Please inform us if something helped.

The Trend Micro Internet Security 2006 seems like better than the new Trend Micro Internet Security 2009, at least much lighter with today's computer setup, though 2009 change better at resource usage. There should be no different in detection as they all use same pattern.

imo it will take a lot for me to try trand again i remove it dailt from customers pc's because it causes issues or they simply complain about it just bogging down the system. i know even yesterday i removed it and installed kaspersky at the customers request and it was like a night and day difference the computer actually responded when it was turned on instead of sitting there waiting...i have not tried 2009 yet so i cant pass judgement there but i know this was like that with 2008 that will never find its way onto my pc's

On a high end system i can confirm that its impact causes such slowness like its dated from the stoneages :thumbd: All Avoid Trend without a doubt!

On my PIII 500MHz 256MB SDRAM machine TIS 2009 is running smoothly. While installing it did say that the MSR is not met but I continued anyway. Probably Trend is partial to stoneage machines or its a "perception issue". by the way I don't use any mail clients so I disabled email scanner (excluding the webmail one) and spam filter. I also disabled the wireless protection and data theft prevention.

I never bothered to consider Trend; has anyone ever considered it's 85% detection rate?

But apart from that they do have alot going for them: accroding to 1 lab lots of malware undetected by others, in the cloud tech, HIPS

    Witch lab to do mean?
However I can confirm lots of generic detection on 0day-malware in our lab. The HIPS included in TIS2009 is very quiet but will popup when it's needed. Also their URL blocking is very accurate, thanks to the Smart Protection Network technology.

    More information on request :)

    I'll give two examples here:
    Code:
    "21:48"	"File Monitor"	"File"	"TROJ_Generic.DIT"	"C:\Documents and Settings\***Lab-Москва\Application Data\fccf7fc79fab228"	"Locked Successfully"	""
The trojan-downloader was not yet detected (only as generic detection by Avira), however the trojan that was getting downloaded ended up as a non-completed download and got locked (yet again, at the time only Avira as able to detected it with a generic signature).

    Code:
"21:49"	"Web Email Monitor"	"Webmail"	"PAK_Generic.001"	" ""http://***.net/cd///wmpcdcs.exe"""	"Cleaned Fail"	"Deleted Successfully"
Another interception of a very new fake codec-downloader with a generic detection (other generic detections only from Avira and Sunbelt).
