I am Wondering if the next version of Prevx will run along side PandaSecuritys new 2009 line of Products?

Yes :) We're working on full compatibility with every other AV we can get our hands on and have so far not run into any problems with any version of Panda.

    Thanks for your reply.

ISA server does not generally need special rules to allow apps Internet access. The problems occur if the application does not correctly authenticate - which I have only seen with very few applications (including Prevx2). It makes it a pain to install in (ISA) server environments.

I've never tested v3/P2 under this environment, but we'll get you a pre-release version of v3 soon to test and if it doesn't work, we'll work on solving whats going on. We use a standard internet communication library, but its definitely possible we're calling something incorrectly for ISA's filtering.

Have you done any checks for v3 compatibility with DefenseWall and GeSWall.
They work OK with both Prevx2 and CSI installed on my machine, should they run problem free with v3?

We've done some quick testing under them recently and they both came back problem free. :)

That was an old false positive started by one company and then some other companies followed it (with same name).

We contacted companies and they fixed the FP, that would mean Spyware Terminator still hasn't fixed the signature ;)

Going to contact them, thanks for the report :thumb:

okay, we are now in early Nov. which i extend until the 12th, otherwise you are then in the middle of a month. so surely there must be a firm release date for the public beta.

it is looking like Nov 5 th is going to be an awful day. i could use an interesting distraction...!

    on another note:

in my ongoing attempt to understand the Prevx Effect, here is a scenario: i found a fun drag racing game, which i played online, and all was fine. i find the same game which can be played locally on my machine. i download it, and in my haste to "get to the track" i don't check it with Virustotal or equivalent, and since i played it already, i prematurely run it it as Trusted through Defensewall. i double-click the executible: what is the flowchart of P3 activities to determine if this file is malicious or not (it is). and how reliable is this determination? can i take it to the bank? or should i keep a second opinion on hand?

this is a somewhat realistic inquiry for me, as P3, a software FW CFP3 wD+ disabled, a hardware firewall, Defensewall, and Returnil soon to be replaced by Shadow Defender, is my sole last line of defense. if i allow something to get past DW, and do not utilize RTNL/SD, then P3 needs to be able to effectively stand between an infection and my computer.

We still do not have a release date for the public beta. I promise I will let everyone know here once it is released, but we are slowly "leaking" it to public members (you most likely even know some of them!! :shifty: ).

As for the flowchart checking for a sample - it is far too complex (and proprietary :D) to explain it all here, but the file is checked extensively through our database using a number of signatures and thousands of rules, and, if we do not determine that it is bad automatically, it will be put under intense scrutiny and after if further analysis, we determine it as bad, we will alert you and prompt for cleanup (of course no program could possibly claim 100% detection).

over what period of time does the file run before it is assigned a permanent disposition?

There is no cut and dry answer for this. For example, if a trojan horse exists deeply encrypted with a date-based key (i.e. - the code would be meaningless on a different date) within a popular game and will only reveal itself on April 1st, 2015, we wouldn't be able to find it until it reveals itself.

For a majority of malware, it doesn't take long to find it as malicious, but it does vary depending on the file. We do, however, take much longer to determine if something is truly good - which is why a lot of files on the filenames pages say "currently being reviewed".
