    Hi all.

I'm in a bit of a tricky situation.

Basically, a few days ago I accidently spilt a pint of water over my laptop while it was on.
It's basically killed it and it won't even boot.

I am planning to sell the laptop as faulty or sell it in parts as spares. For this reason I need to completely erase the HD because it contains all of my data, some of which is quite sensitive.

Is it possible to completely wipe the HD using a program such as Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") even though I will be accessing the HD via a 2.5" SATA to USB External Enclosure/Caddy?
I've had a quick look at DBAN but it looks like it automatically erases any HD it finds, which isn't good because I don't want to erase the HD of the PC I am using to access my laptop HD!

How do I go about wiping my data from the drive this way?

Any help would be really appreciated!

DBAN will work for you on any "detected" drive, you choose the drive. The key word here is "detected". I can not say for sure if it will detect the desired drive or not.
