I purchased ATI 11 on 1 Oct 2008, I had no idea about ATI 2009 or when it would become available. Now I see that it was released on 8 Oct 2008. When I go to my Acronis account and look at my registered products, showing my two ATI 11 licenses, it says I can upgrade to ATI 2009: "Upgrade Now just for $29.99". But that seems to be for one license (it knows I have two, which it shows above on the same page). It also shows the registration date, but not the purchase date (even tho I bought it on the Acronis web site).

Question: is there for example no free upgrade if you purchased the old product less that 30 days ago?? So I just paid $69 for two licenses one week ago, and now if I want to upgrade I'm supposed to fork over another $29 or more? I would like to get 2009, as it seems to have features I was missing in 11 (automatic backup on target drive insert, etc.) which I mentioned here as I was using the ATI11 trial version, but no one recommended waiting a week for the new version, so I went ahead and bought ATI 11, not knowing the 2009 version was coming 7 days later.

I sent a similar e-mail to customer service but haven't heard anything. Does anyone know if there is such a pro-rated upgrade policy for those who recently purchased version 11? If not, it seems to be a bit of a ripoff.

    Thanks, Bob

In the past Acronis have had a 30 day policy. If you purchased the v11 within 30 days of 2009 coming out in past versions you get the 2009.

However, they may have changed policy, so I'm afraid only Acronis can pronounce give you the authoritive answer.

Contact Acronis Customer Service immediately, explain your situation. Don't expect an immediate response. With new releases there is usually a small flood of refund and update requests that slows things down.

    BobP77,

You might also try the Live Chat feature. You may be able to get a quicker resolution.

Live chat worked fine for me, I bought Acronis TI 11 on Aug 30 2008 while Beta testing TI 2009. Got an email saying I was eligible to upgrade for $29.95. Told Acronis via 'live chat' and they quickly provided me with a new product key to allow a free upgrade to TI 2009. It should work for you since you puchased recently. Note that you will need both your TI 11 product key and the new TI 2009 product key to install TI 2009.

Worked for me. I bought TI 11 and DD 10 for $9.99 on Sep 13, less than 30 days ago. Did Live Chat and was given serial number, registered it, for free upgrade to TI Home 2009.:)

I also bought it then (on the Sept 15th thru same deal) got email about free upgrade. All I had to do was log in to my account and follow direction and that was it.

Thanks to everyone for your support. I have now also received an e-mail from Acronis about the free upgrade and have gotten new serial numbers for ATI 2009.

By all means take full advantage of the deal. Download the free offers but do not be in a hurry to jump off the cliff and instal them.

The 2009 version appears to have even more problems coming to the surface than the dreadful Version 11.

Rather than ask for your money back if neither of these two systems work for you demand a free copy of version10 which is the last one that really works for me and I guess many thousands of others.

Had you registered your ATI 11 after purchase, and does it appear in your registered products? I believe that's what 'Live Chat' person looked at in my account before approving and giving out a serial number.

Hi, Yes I also just purchased TI11 1 week ago. I've constantly read good things about TI in magazines and another forum that I frequent so I did'nt even think twice about buying it.

Now I've found this forum and am now not so confident.

I installed TI11 last week, registered it but hav'nt used it yet and last weekend decided to do a fresh install.

I did recieve the email from the good people of Acronis letting me know that I can download the "upgrade" file and they gave me a new key.

Can I download the 2009 version and use the key they gave me?

Or do I have to reinstall TI11 and then install the upgrade file and enter the key ?

Will my key just work for the upgrade or will it work on a fresh install of 2009

    Regards

    Jack

Regular users of TI will likely tell you to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one - there sometimes are conflicts even though it is supposed to be unnecessary. TI new versions, new builds of the same version, are complete packages not patches.

For upgrades, TI will ask you for your previous license key and then the one for the new package so don't throw them away even if they are for an old version you no longer use. You only have to have the key for one version back for an upgrade not the whole series.

    Yes,

I registered the product immediately after the purchase. After a chat with sales (first english, then german then again english) everything is done.

You can install 2009 over TI11, I was successfull in doing just that and it also states in the manual (that you can download using the option on the first screen when you start the install) that you can do that.

I bought mine on the 13th too, but was told on the live chat... "I'm afraid Customers who purchased Acronis True Image 11 Home through a $9.99 promo are not eligible for free upgrades"

I guess that we are considered lesser quality customers since we took advantage of the promotion.

It was stated on this forum that the promotion offer would not qualify for free upgrades and at that price I'm not surprised. I presume that this was displayed somewhere on the Acronis site at the time. I purchased it and got Disk Director free and am more than happy with the deal.

I don't recall seeing that message and this is my first time in this forum. In my opinion they should not treat customers differently based on how much they paid... Acronis either has the 30 day policy or they don't.

Also, Kron and Country2 claim that they got the free upgrade even though they took advantage of the same promotion.

Don't get me wrong though, I am very happy with the deal I received and I think the product is great... I just don't agree with making exceptions to their policy - we are still customers of Acronis.

Vendors often limit how many diff deals can be combined on one purchase.
