Nice improvements. I'll probably give it another try later down the road.

To get right click ability, you need to uninstall your previous beta then install the RC. :)

    - Updating from the previous BETAs does not register the shell integration library so AV needs to be reinstalled

I hope they'll seriously start working more on detection when it comes out.
With serous i mean constant flow of smaller updates. Because lets face it, detection is rather crappy and i don't like Defense+ all that much...

Hi ReJzOr... Give it time to grow. :)

But remember, Comodo are focusing on LIVE MALWARE... Not 1995 malware, The ones that are live now and today, So you will see progress... Anyway, Even all anti-viruses together can't detect every malware out there. Prevention should always be your first line of Defense, Detection 2nd.

Hope you give it a chance & help improve it. :)

I still think this should be kept as a beta until they can raise the detection rates to at least 60%. If the final version gets released before then I can only imagine how many people are going to unknowingly put themselves at the mercy of 6% detection.

Well, i've been giving them time ever since their first CAV versions.
And to be honest, with todays scale of malware releases you don't even need pre 2000 malware.
Detection is prevention. Their slogan works great in theory but not in reality.

Perhaps we can catch only theoretical viruses!:D

My interest in CAV 3.5 is in regards to its HIPS capabilities.

HIPS is stupid. Not just Comodo's but all of them. I prefer behavior blockers.
At least they do some of the "thinking" instead just ejaculate popups like nuts (i pick that word intentionally :p ) and leave all the thinking to user.

HIPS is not stupid, saying that is in fact, itself, stupid

I concur that software that makes it's own decisions is better for the majority of people, however HIPS is quite amazing when setup properly, can stop most malware dead in it's tracks

for instance, when testing CIS, i was flipping through some new malware i had received, and the icon looked like a folder, i was moving quickly and accidentally executed it thinking it was another folder

d+ grabbed it and blocking it prevented everything

while i don't mind cleaning my comp, i'd rather leave the infecting to my VM

HIPS don't stop malware. In fact it doesn't even know what malware is. It's the user who stop the malware.

HIPS is fine if you're after something that leaves the job of stopping malware up to you. If you want something that stops malware, however, it's stupid.

Besides, "Installation mode" kinda defeats its purpose. Either you get 500 popups or you get 500 files in the checking queue. Either way you have to make 500 decisions. Thats just useless.

The "installation mode" implementation in the application that behaves as described above must be rather sucky, to say at least... Care to be more specific which one you are talking about? ;)

    Anyone using it?

I tried and installed it so many times even on a fresh system. Runs OK but I noticed two things.

1- Constant disk activity that does not stop even if i disable real time AV and memory scans.

2- CFP GUI and tray icons gets stuch while changing status of defence plus.'

I am going back to beta. Also it,s not light, even when i disable the AV, my system is a bit slow and less responsive than while using OA free v3. I wish they give attention to this fact.

Ok, will try it now and will see how it goes. I wish they could make it more light. My system is a bit more snappier with OA free.

OK I don't know I am bring up an off topic question here: regarding the defense+ function, isn't the similar function already been realized in an much older firewall called BlackICE PC protection? Rather annoying if you ask me since it just intercept every step of your legit operation and ask you what to do. I know you can make it silent when you install a program but still I feel that's troublesome.

Re: COMODO Internet Security RC2 Released!

I don,t see the memory. I just see how much time different application take to be launched. llike my browsers, open office etc.

The more time they take to open, the more heavy is the HIPS as every thing is filtered through the HIPS befoire execution.
