I can make Image backups fine. But not Data backups. They almost always hang, and the backup I want to make now of my programming directories hangs at 5%-10%, with 11 minutes to go, then stays there for hours. Every time. I'm running Vista Ultimate, and TI 11.0 Build 8,053. I see a newer build available, but can't seem to log in to get it. Every time I log in to my account, it says I need to change to a stronger password, but I never get the email with the new information (no it's not being blocked).

This happened to me back in February, too. All I could do was make Image backups, no Data backups. As the Image backups were faster anyway, I wasn't concerned. But now with the Differential Image of my Development drive taking so long, I want to backup the image only weekly, and backup my development code daily. Please help. I'm looking at other backup solutions, but don't think I should have to buy something else, when TI should do the job.

    rraisley,

Have you performed ChkDsk on the drive that causes the hang (i.e., run cmd.exe as administrator, then "ChkDsk x: /r" where x: is the drive in question. You may have to reboot to have ChkDsk run)? If that doesn't work, have you tried backing up from the Recovery Disk (Tools\Create Bootable Rescue Media)? If you haven't made one yet, you need to do that anyway. I have had cases where Backup would run from the bootable (Linux) Disk, but not from Windows (or vice versa).

Eventually, Acronis Tech Support may get back to you with a better answer. In the meantime, maybe one of these suggestions will get you through the rough spot.

    Regards,

    Hello rraisley,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for delayed response.

If you encounter problems downloading the latest build, please use our Live Chat service, or send us a Private Message with your serial number.

If the latest build doesn't solve the problem, please check if the problem persists with backup compression set to "None".

    Thank you.
