    Hello all,
since the last upate today, the ESET firewall has been blocking all incoming or outgoing to where I have to turn the firewall off, then back on, till it happens again in 10 mins or so, this is aggravating. I checked the firewall log, and nothing listed today. I am running 3.0.667.0 with security database 3466. It just wont stay open, any more of this and i am going to have to turn it off and use windows Firewall (uggh)

    Hello,

I would suggest that you try downloading ESET Smart Security v3.0.672.0, uninstalling your current copy of the software, and updating to the newest version.

    Regards,

    hello
not only does my ess cut off the internet, but when i turn off
the firewall and then turn it back on,the icon in the taskbar is frozen.
if i click on the icon or right click, nothing happens.
can't turn off the service in the task manager either.
i have to reboot the computer.
    version 669

and my VPN connections are not working when the FW is ON.

I am also having this problem - the firewall will die and start blocking all of my incoming/outgoing traffic. I have to disable it and then re-enable it, but it just happens again a little while later, and the system tray icon becomes non-responsive.

Given that this is a very poorly rated firewall to begin with:

you probably want to look elsewhere

Hopefully this is the last time someone refers to tests that do not include all modules but selectively choose just the firewall even if the other modules in the suite are able to detect and block most of the malware exploiting the vulnerabilities and maybe even more that stand-alone firewalls might not detect. :(

Instead of belittling customers, do you have a solution to the problem?

Four customers complain of a similar problem and you talk down to them. Excellent customer service.

Hi, I have same problem, I have 3 customers with ESET, yesterday the three of them got blocked, network drives on one, outlook on 2 of them. the Ver. 3.0.667.0 had the network drives cutoff but today they worked fine after the update. The other 2 have 3.0.669.0 and they still have problems with outlook. On my PC I have 3.0.669.0 and outlook is woking fine. All of them were working fine at the time it was installed, have you done any updates that affected the firewall. And really do you think is costwise to reinstall ESET SS 3.0.672.0 because my customers are not going to pay me for the reinstall.

Please provide with a solution like telling us what we can do on the already installed software. they worked fine till yesterday.

    Thank you

i updated to version 672 and internet seems ok now.
but if i disable and re enable the firewall, the tray icon is frozen still.
at least now i can go to the task manager, and stop the eset service,by stopping the equi.exe first, then the ekrn .exe service, and starting eset again, and the icon works.

yes - manually updating to build .672 did fix it for me, but you have to love the response about the firewall . . . yes it doesn't block any of the stuff that they tested against it - - but according to ESET that malware would never be on your system if you use their other products, so it is OK that the firewall is weak
