    Hello,

Protecting "C:\" is very helpful as long as you are not installing any programs.

In this configuration it will be better, during an install, to halt DS especially if "C:\" is added to protected folders.
You can stop DS for 30 minutes, plenty of time for install or shut it down completely until next reboot.
If you forget to disable DS for an install and try to shut it down while the install process is active, it will create some type of error in DS, if the password is enabled. I faced this scenario and I created some type of fault in DS.

    Hi Bugmenot,

DriveSentry provides antivirus, antispyware, HIPS and the latest whitelisting protection for your system and data. DriveSentry monitors all access to your protected areas and automates protection by allowing whitelisted programs, blocking and quarantining blacklisted programs and querying the unknown.

This way DriveSentry will protect you from the known and the unknown, providing protection from the very latest threats.

DriveSentry is compatable with the following OS's:

Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (update 1) or later
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later
Windows 2003 Server with Service Pack 1 or later
Windows Vista 32 bit (all versions).

Thankyou for your interest in DriveSentry.

    kind regards,

    Kate.

    Hi Lunaticdreams,

The default protections is the recommended setup for most people. Protecting your C: drive as a whole provides protection in which ALL access to your C: will be monitored by DS. Although the whitelist is growing by the day, you may (atleast at first) experience a few manual popups. However these will die down as rules are created (Access: Rules).

Give it a try...you can always change it back to the default protections if protecting your C: does not suit you.

    Thanks for you question.

    kind regards,

    Kate.

    Hi Katie,
Thanks for your time and efforts here. :)
After reading thru all the posts in this thread, I decided to give DriveSentry a go myself.
Installed very easily, v. 3.1.2.5 on XP SP2.
Running very smooth and so far like what I see.

    One question please.
I don't know if this is normal or a possible problem and has to do with memory usuage.
When I reboot, DS starts out using about 14k.
After 1 day it's up to about 20k and after 2 days it's up to 30k.
Never went further then that because I noticed if I open the interface, clear the log file then close the interface it drops down to about 2k then starts the process of climbing again.
    A memory leak or problem?
Can you help me with this please?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi guys,

I would like to ask for your help and feedback on our new DriveSentry GoAywhere 2 pre-release, providing strong encryption and standalone antivirus for removable devices.

If you have a chance, try DriveSentry GoAnywhere 2 (pre-release) and let me know your thoughts. I would be very interested to know what everyone thinks of the software.

For more information check out the following press release: DriveSentry GoAnywhere to boost mobile data security

I would much appreciate your expert advice and feedback on this software.

thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you ;) .

    Kind regards,

    Kate.

Hi, I recently had DriveSentry on my computer but I had a possible problem with it. My computer restarted by itself and when I filed a error report, it told me that a hardware or software caused a blue screen. At the time of using Drivesentry, I used Norton Security Scan, Spyware Doctor(both from the goggle pack), Avast! antivirus home edition, Ad-Aware, Superantispyware free,
SpywareBlaster, and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. I use Windows XP Professional SP 3. Since that happened, I have uninstalled MalwareBytes and DriveSentry because they were the two new programs on my PC before this happened. I could be way wrong cause when I checked Windows update there was an update for my monitor and something else. Is DriveSentry incompatible with any of these programs?
    Thank you.

    Hi BlackHeart,

Im afraid that like with most security software, we do not recommend that you run more than one security app at the same time which may take on the same roles, as this may cause conflicts. This may have been the problem here, but as you said, this may well have had nothing to do with DriveSentry.

I will pass this on to the QA team. But due to the cocktail of apps you were using (as many people do) it maybe hard to pinpoint the problem.

let me know if you find out anymore.

    kind regards,

    kate.

Hi Katie, I tried today DriveSentry GoAnywhere 2 pre-release in my USB Pen on two different pc, one with XP Pro SP2 and KIS 7.0.1.325, the other with XP Home SP 2 ( they are not mine, again running SP 2 !! ;) ) and KIS 6: no problems, DS ran immediately when I ran my USB Pen, I had only to give at the KIS the allow for it, then DS was definitevely right and useful.

Be sure that I'll use DS GoAnywhere: it's the better USB apps antivirus that I tried. ;) . Now, at my home, I tried it on my XP Pro SP3: all right.

    p.s.: You have a PM.

    Hi Katie,

Before I try it, could you tell me, if you plug your USB drive in a pc where Autoplay is not enabled, would DS-GoA activate automatically, or will you have to go and start it manually?

    Hi ruinebabine,

If DriveSentry GoAnywhere does not automatically launch from your device, do one of the following:

:D Double click the drive icon in Windows Explorer
:D Right click the drive icon and select either "DriveSentry" or "Open Autoplay"
:D Double click the 'Run GoAnywhere' shortcut on the root of the removable drive.

    i hope this helps

    kind regards,

    Kate.

    Thanks for your answer, Katie.

Another question, if I may. If my USB drive is partitioned, is it recommanded to put DS-GoA on each partition?

By the way, is there available some downloadable Documentation file or User manual? I checked at your site but could not find any...

    TIA

Unfortunately, DriveSentry didn't run well at all on my Vista. I had to remove it.

    Dear Kate,

What is causing the trouble... It's when I am trying to load and run portableapps (portableapps.com), eg, portableapps Firefox and portableapps Thunderbird etc from my TrueCrypt container.

It seems that DS doesn't like it when I try to run portablapps, as nothing happens, they simply won't load, and it doesn't load aMSN either that I also run from my TrueCrypt container.

So it seems DS has a compatibility issue or a problem when I run portableapps or try to load anything that is installed into my TrueCrypt container.

And when I choose "ACCESS" and "Add Program" in DS, it won't allow me to add poertableapps firefox etc. I click on the program to add it in DS, but nothing happens, DS doesn't do anything. Why doesn't it add the files when I choose "Add programs"?

I do not have any third party firewall or antivirus installed. I only have Vista firewall, and no AV whatsover.

And when I try to empty my Vista trash can, the process freezes. And I have to shutdown DS to empty my trash can.

And when I added CCleaner, that worked and it added it. But when I tried to run CCleaner, it doesn't load. And it seems like a lot of work to have to add all applications one by one... and then they don't load anyway.

And another thing I noticed is that my Laptop fan starts up and continues to run at high speed whenever I load DS. Why is that?

Would love to, but I am worried I may like it, and then have to pay for it after 30 days :) If it was free, I would.
