    seems more than coincidence with the new update (346:cool:. I seem to remember this happening some time ago. Is it an ESS problem or mine!

    Couldn't it be that you have installed SP3 recently? Maybe a Windows update has replaced svchost.exe with an updated version. (hopefully you mean svchost.exe in the windows\system32 folder)

    should have said I'm using Vista and yes it is in the syastem folder so wasn't too worried like I might have been had it been an instance from elsewhere.

    Why don't you check the svchost's digital signature to verify it is a Microsoft legitimate file ?
