Well, to be true Avira is the fastest. Kaspersky comes next and then Norton. Why not u try it yourself by submitting the samples. :)

To me Kaspersky is the fastest. behind kaspersky , Avira used to be the fastest but I must say that Symantec is reacting also very fast lately. Most of the time within the hour

Sjoeii, I agree they're fast. However, while I was evaluating KIS 2009, I was disappointed that there were times I wasn't getting an update for 8-12 hours. To be fair, it was mostly over the weekend, but I doubt malware writers work banker's hours... :D

And also to be fair, 8 hours was still faster than any other AV at that point! Just saying its really not hourly.

Kaspersky has been fastest for me.
I have discovered that response times are faster, if you submit malware via quarantine.

Not bad for a Automated Add in also.. lets try talking to some real person! instead of sending a variant. :p

Humm... Must be a very slow day. soo many customers to protect. :D
    On Topic.
Avira seems to do it with in 12-24 hours from my personal experience. Eset seems a little slower sometimes 12 hours sometimes 4 days. And Norton well we wont even go there.

I don't send samples to Grisoft, but a friend sends and he says it's very fast too.

I've sent a sample of a trojan created in Brazil to Kaspersky, Avira and Eset.
In 30 minutes, Kaspersky added it to the database, after 1 week, I received an e-mail from Avira saying it was added.Until now I didn't get any reply and the sample isn't detected by NOD32 yet.I sent the sample 3 weeks ago.

1week for avira makes 0 sense, mine never take more than 8 business hours, and i do mean NEVER and i've sent alot to them

Avira usually needs 24-48 hours... Kaspersky some hours (or minutes)... ESET weeks... (its the reason I stopped sending samples to ESET months ago). F-Secure is fast, but maybe it's better to send to Kaspersky...
One time I sent a sample to Kaspersky that I received a reply only 1 week after, but it's not usual.

LOL at least they do something fast.

On a serious note keep in mind it can also rely on Volume of emails for the day samples system. so many factors go into submission.
