    Remove-Malware.com NIS 2009 test.
First let me say I’m no expert, so feel free to post and point out the mistakes I’ve made in this post. I thought that he did so many things differently that I wonder if his test have any meaning at all. They don’t really give a fair comparison to each of the tested programs.
The test are preformed at different times some many weeks or months apart. Once he goes online doesn’t that give the Malware a chance to update. Or add something that may in fact be hard
to remove. He also kills internet connection at different times, would this matter?
When he goes online and checks IE he uses Google to check if he gets redirected. Kaspersky, Avira, and most the other ones. Here’s a quote from his Kaspersky review ‘go straight to google which seems to get hijacked quite a lot. Yahoo not as much.’ But with his highest rated one Spyware Doctor with Antivirus he uses Yahoo. Before he tests Spyware Dr. He disable add ons
in IE. Doesn’t do that with Kaspersky 2009 or some of the other software. Would that make a difference .
Q host infection I don’t know what that is. Made a big deal out of it in most of his reviews . Did Norton get rid of it? Don’t know never heard him mention it.
Safe Mode scan how can you compare two security software programs. Without running a Safe mode scan with all of them. Or no safe mode scan.
I always use Hijack this when I’m done to see if everything is clean. Without it I don’t know how I can judge how well the product really performed. I didn’t see anything like that in these test expect with Norton 2009. He does check in Task Manager, Processes tab in some tests. I’m not sure but I don’t think that’s reliable as Hijack this. My bet is a Hijack this log with Spyware Doctor who have been very interesting.
Would it be possible to block all programs from the internet except the program that is being tested let it up date, then scan in safe mode?
If you go to his links to the two products he seems to be recommending, it looks like he’s getting paid. No big deal, just makes his reviews a little suspect.
So am I being to picky? Are his reviews really a fair comparison

I think if he freezes all the AVs at a given time and test them all then it would be more of a fair one.

Personally. I go with the current rep tests out there. Just the way the test is done its to concerned with how its removed. Instead of how it was detected. As for me I much rather never get infected. If I do, its 5 min Image restore back to before it was. so cleaning in a way has no meaning to me.

I'm still on the side of never let it in the door. And if it does get in image wipe for 100% clean.

Well, i'm sceptical about most things but in his voice i can tell he is not trying to fool anyone or be decietefull, and that in my eys makes this test more improtant to me then the others i have seen, even if he makes a few mistakes.

I think your complaints are justified. He does every test a little differently so it's hard to compare each program.

FireStarter I'm sorry if I gave the impression that he was trying to fool user or be deceitful wasn't trying to do that. Just pointing out that it was a little suspect. Maybe I should have left that out. Sometimes I just don't think.

Yes, I'm no pro...I'm just a just curious guy. Remember, I started reviewing Anti-Malware products to find out which one would allow my STL business to grow.

If you're looking for a professional review on a anti-malware product then don't look to me..."I'm giving the down-to-earth....average joe....what yer going to see in real life review". o_O

I actually wasn’t looking just saw a link here at Wilders and went there. I do think the test should be performed in same way. But I guess that was my error. I should have looked at them as individual reviews. What I did was compare each product to each other, then realized that it was not a fair comparison based on the way the test was done. My fault, in the future I will look at it as a individual test. If I could make a suggest I would like to see you do a Hijack this scan at the end of each test. I think that would give everyone a good idea what a product left. Which would be very similar to your browsers test. I did like the way you explain everything and the whole presentation.

The be it as it may. Most people that buy a computer for surfing the web or the AVG Joe out there. Might not even know there is anything different then IE. So this is vital to some people and not so much to other

My self personally I started using Firefox here a while ago. As much as I like it. I had never heard of it before a year. So keep that in mind. Not everyone knows there is different out there or they maybe happy with there current browser. ;)

Like AV's its all a matter of Preference and a matter of knowledge. :)

IMO, Matt (remove-malware.com) has and does a good job.
His review are transparent due to the videos , have real-time malware samples (not in-the-lab samples) and he now puts up HijackThis log for further proof. Thats still more than reviews like PCMag, where you have no idea how or what they tested.

Its very good for average Joe. Professional Jack can always find holes and he should just test and do his own reviews for his own satisfaction.
I always take Matt's review seriously, but its not my bible. I value his evaluation, but ultimately I am king.

I think he has done a great job. His findings are pretty much right on from what I have seen. Hopefully he will have time to do a few more. All I can say is WOW! ;)

It is not fair to test packages in different ways. They should all get the same test, so this test is flawed. And trjam...I wonder when you change your AV/Security system again...
