Hello everyone, I have the ESET Smart Security software, but everytime I open iTunes and try to connect with iPhone Remote App, iTunes does not detect the app. However, when I disable the firewall, it detects the app right away. I am a noob when it comes to configuring firewalls. Can anyone help me with configuring the firewall so the app gets detected with iTunes. Thank You.

    Hello,

Perhaps ESET knowledgebase article #760, "iTunes not working with your ESET security product?" will be of assistance. It is specifically for iTunes and does not mention the iPhone, but perhaps will work with this other Apple product.

    Regards,

This is because the ESET firewall blocks mDNSResponder.exe, the Bonjour service responsible for communication between iTunes and Remotes.

You would have to switch your firewall to Interactive mode and then make a rule to allow all connections on C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe

I have encountered a problem though. In Interactive mode, ESET doesn't ask me to allow or deny programs when I run them. It just denies all connections unless I make a rule for that program. I can't possibly go and create a new rule for every program and process.. Does anyone know why it doesn't ask me?
