We have NOD32 2.7 installed in 100 computers and managed by a PC where we have installed the "NOD32 Remote Administrator 1.0.15"

I need to know how can I backup the RA configuration so that if this PC crashed I can use another new PC for this job without installation and configuration from scratch.

    Tks

    Hi,

you can install a second server and activate the Replication.
This works ok but no group definition will be replicated.
You have to rename the second server if the first fails, because the clients use DNS names to connect (for updates and remote administration).
We solved this by adding a DNS alias in our DNS server. The client setup uses this alias for updating and remote administration. Normaly all clients connect to the first server (which has the alias set) and the data is replicated by the RA server to the second one. If this server fails we only have to switch the DNS alias centralized at the DNS server. After the DNS leasetime (normaly 24h) on the client is reached it will get its updates from the second one. You can check your leasetime with "ipconfig /displaydns" and force a update by "ipconfig /flushdns".
There is only one problem, you get doublicate entries in the server because of the field "Primary Server".

Another easy way if you are willing to operate only one server is:
If the server fails install a new one from scratch with the same DNS name and alle clients will automatic connect to this. You only loose the group definitions and the old LOGs.

    regards
    mike

What are you running for back up this server?

I do my configs IP based, not DNS name based. A little more efficient..less loads on the DNS server. So would just be a matter of making the replacement PC the same IP address.

Unfortunately I don't have any backup for this sever, infact this is not a server its just a PC and we don't have much mission critical applications.

What I need to know is if there is a way to backup certain files related to the NOD32 RA installation of this server? So that if I install a new server I have to copy these files and it work work.

DNS and IP address is not much concern for me since I am going to have only one server at a time so always my DNS or IP will be same.

    Tks
