Thanks Halo....I tried Advanced Events Monitoring on and then off with Hostsman, and got the same keylogger results as you with OpenOffice. So I'm leaving Advanced Events Monitoring turned on.

Yes, leaving the AEM on sure makes things nice and secure. It reminds me of the Sygate Pro 5.6 Firewall setup. I guess it should, as Norton bought their Company. I am still playing with all the settings on the NIS 2009 Firewall, and now trying the Atelier Firewall tester. :)

I havent bought any security suites or even an av in years. This will be the first security software that I will buy for at east 2 years or so. Worth the $70 I say. Kinda steep but what the hell. A million less annoyances then Comodo.

Well I am no pc tech but its amazing what you can learn yourself by simply clicking around. I am a self taught pc expert. There isnt much I dont know. Sorry expert may be too strong. Advanced User better fits. Your welcome Wake. Thanks Swiss. Dont mean to sound like a fan boy but Symantec really did a good thing here. I always shy ed away from suites. I was always a fan of a separate firewall and av. The last suite I had was NIS 2002 which was a joke. Honestly speaking NIS is really awesome. I still am leary about the HIPS protection it can provide. Anyone using anything else along side NIS 2009? Not HIPS, behavior I meant.

Just using Agnitum's Spam Terrier for Vista here, and Super Anti Syware - that's it. I removed all the other security apps since using NIS 2009.

off my credit card (again) lol.

edited to add: I am running NIS 2009 with Defensewall no problems, SAS paid on demand.

I am like swiss. I dumped Comodo,Avira and Sandboxie. Now just using NIS 2009 and my pc never ran better. Other past set ups were Comodo and NOD32. And Comodo with Avast. Tried KAV but it slows my pc down as well as browsing. NIS doesn't slow my boot times. Doesnt slow Windows. And doesn't slow browsing. I have no idea its even there. Updates are invisible. Anyone notice there is no "msconfig" entry with NIS 2009. Just a service added.

So far its still running good on my test computer. I may have to replace a few computers that have a failing AV on them. as my renewal is coming up anyways might just switch those few over to NIS2009 and let them manage them self. As for my main system tho I will have to keep whats in the sig, as I really cant chance to much happening to this computer even with a image backup.

Fajo there isnt much I dont know about Comodo. I am a former modder from there. You will sick of Comodo in time. I was use to it but it really sucks when your installing things. BTW I have never been infected in about 6 years or so.

I doubt I will get sick of it just used to it. :D I have already assumed the Bat waking position. but for the other computers NIS seems to be a good solution for what I need it for with my renewal coming up in a few days I been contemplating changing it out and using the new Norton we will see how things go tho.

Opened Norton Insight and let it update.

Ran a Full Scan which took about an hour (approximately 650,000 files).

Ran another Full Scan a little later and this time the scan took 15 minutes and only included about 180,000 files.

So, it looks like Norton Insight is factored in to Full Scans.

I think I have tested every single av firewall suite, am really partial to OutpostPro and DW.

In testing NIS 2009 I am really surprised at fast boot and fast shut downs, so far zero conflicts
and overall have to say I am very pleasantly surprised at this new version, but now I cant make
up my mind go with NAV or NIS because I have never been a big fan of suites either.

Vicktek I had same results first scan was around 38 minutes for 417,486 and second was 16 minutes
with 96, 212 scanned and have no idea why the difference, maybe it is Insight.

Well more testing reveals this Firewall blocks the Too Leaky test shown here:

    too-leaky.jpg

This is with the settings we tried earlier i.e. APC set to Off, and Advanced Events Monitoring set to On. Quite impressive.

I was just at Norton Community forums, they have a beta called Security Inspector, you must have Norton Internet Security 2009 to get it. Does anyone here know anything about it? Or has used it yet?

I am a gamer and have Logitech G15 keyboard with an LCD screen. I just launched UT 2004 and NIS gave me a key logger alert. Another good thing. Sorry no screen shot. I will look in my history for it.

Many thanks edd3800 for spotting this. :)

Thanks edd3900 for the information and the links.

edited to add: opps sorry edd3800 for the numerical error.

I just downloaded the security inspector 28.9 mb, with a eula you have to check to agree that this is
experimental software, installs in less than a minute, and requires a reboot, has a basic and advanced
option, basic checks Browser settings for IE, Instant Messenger check to see if instant messenger accounts
are protected, IP address check, and Windows passwords, and advanced option includes shared folders,
checks for shared folders that could not be shared, checks user rights, checks windows services, scan
time is fast less than a minute using advanced, found one vulnerability IP address, failed because I
    use mvps host file.

have to try the uac next.

Thanks Wake2 for checking it out. If you get a chance could you give a post on your opinion on it. Does it drag your system down. Is it running all the time. Does it seem stable enough for us users who aren't really aren't an advanced user.

Is the "Security Inspector" add-on, like a vulnerability scanner ??
    Thanks in Advance.

At install the Security Inspector creates a desktop icon, does not run as a start up, and I did not
see anywhere where it hooked into NIS 2009, if it did I didnt see it, it seems to run stand alone,
and on demand, and once opened the options in basic and advanced are very clear, and with well
written instructions on what it is checking for, nice GUI, scan time is fast, no system drag, and I
think its a suitable tool for a novice.
