Deleteing old backups

I have an old full backup and one deferential backups that I want to delete because I just did a new full backup after a defragment of the C drive.

I put my backups on an external hard drive and do not use a security zone. Here are the images on the attachment:

 

I just found that you can do it by Using Acronis to delete a backup location. I will first delete the full backup and then its differential backup. Is there any reason to keep an old full backup?

 

I like to keep my old Full "clean install" images as well as others of various dates. It just depends on your requirements.

 

You can delete the files using the WinExplorer.
A special order to delete is not necessary.

I would delete the older files only when the diskspace becomes low.

 

I think I will follow both of your recommendations and not delete until the disk space becomes an issue. I took note from the manual that indicated that when you do a defragment on the drive that is being backed up, it is best to do a full backup. Is that always the case. At this point I only am backing up about 32GB.

 

That's a good plan. Save as much as space allows. You never know when you'll need an older backup.

Yes, it is. The defragment moves the sector contents around so TI will pretty much do a Full even if you do an Incremental or Differential so it saves space and simplifies to the process to just do a Full. Also, if you use Vista, you may want to only do Full images backups on your Vista partition. Vista is always moving files and I've found that if an Incremental is created more than a day or two later that I might have well just made a Full.
