What AV is open source?

    Besides CLAM, what other Anti-Virus programs are free and open source?

    As far as I know, OpenAV project is a platform which uses other scanners as for detection.

    Ya, and better to read the warn in the link above: " Please DO NOT use ScannerDaemon/VirusHammer as your sole virus protection at all!...." ;)

    Just my opinion, but a noncommercial program (it could be anything) that requires daily maintenance to be fully functional (this is a basic requirement for an AV), is a fundamentally flawed proposition. As a programming exercise, it has merit.

    Agreed, and what I thought when I read this. Its one thing for (often) volunteers to put time into a product with a set end goal. AVs by necessity are living, breathing apps, requiring constant changes / updates. That's a lot to ask volunteers to provide.

    Considering the excellent response-times to threats from the Clam team, this kite seems not to be flying for ClamAV ;)
