I found out my problem with Google Chrome not running properly and it relates to Software Restriction Policy. If you have, under Enforcement, "All software files" checked instead of "All software files except libraries (such as DLLs)", then Google Chrome will not run properly. I also discovered that you can't run it under Basic User (which basically runs it under Limited User), as well. It appears it all comes down to rights of the application. Google Chrome needs free reign within the OS. Took me a long time to discover this and a lot of trouble. I feel like an idiot for going to all this trouble for a browser that at present is far behind its competition and that I'd probably will not use until later releases come out.

    Later....

You can work around this by ticking the 'Ask where to save each file before downloading' option.

But what about users (example younger MySpace users) set up in a Limited Account and now suddenly there is this new (beta) Google browser being hyped all over the web? My suspicion is because there was no choice given for the install directory. If Microsoft and IE tried that, they would be crucified.

If Google Chrome would have installed in Program Files instead of AppData within User folder SRP wouldn't have given me so much trouble. I don't understand the logic in putting it there.

Yes,once the launch excitement has died down, maybe reality will return and more flexible browsers as regards features plugins and addons ,but with possibly similar speed, will become the browsers of choice.

That is unless Google does improve this aspect

Is this a problem??:amongst the rest of the open ended EULA:
That sounds a bit open ended to me: heh; we trust the "do no evil" mantra.
( unless you are in China anyway...)

Does anyone see a slight oxymoron in the warning from the 'icognito' option (see image) :cautious:
Hope no-one confuses that option with 'anonymity'

Have to remember Google is now a giant revenue driven conglomerate who have demonstrated an amazing ability to leverage the web for $$: this is not a 'free' tool; there are commercial implications to this "open source' initiate.

I accept that the big 'G" is not actively malignant  but there are some creeping boundaries here.
Nicely avoiding the monopolistic embedding of IE :cautious:
Hhmm: when they have an OS well then... ( lol other than gOS)

    I like this:
    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21045018-

How does Google now reconcile the $56million they give to FF for being default search page ??

    Thought from John Lilly

Although this is genuinely exciting, I'll just watch for a while.

They wont knock on your door if you do that and drag you to the High Court :D

They are welcome to mine my data-once was a miner-but then again my data wont be worth much to anyone!

Interesting-but would think the novelty value would be behind some of this popularity.

On the other hand,a lot of people just wont run Beta's at all,so when Chrome 1 comes out-no doubt improved and hopefully with add ons-plug ins-it could really take off.

They are hoping for at least 10% of the browser market.

    No probs for me :)
This is more a sort of exploratory caveat emptor...the froth hasn't even settled..
The "beta" eula is getting somewhat of a pasting...here and there..and will be revised.

    This is interesting ( I think?) http://tapthehive.com/discuss/This_Post_Not_Made_In_Chrome_Google_s_EULA_Sucks
Heh; nothing like having millions of experts pull stuff to pieces: code, exploits, eula within 24 hours: cant hurt.

No problems here on Vista Ultimate. It is visibly faster than Firefox and Opera on my system, so far so good.

Google Chrome is fast no doubt about it..

    But here is few things
In Task Manager why Chrome.exe many times(If this is the reason chrome use every tab seperately)
I never seen before FF or IE Update in Task Manager but Google update is thr

Maximun time i use one Tab but if i now browse few sites how i will back Home page (Faster way) for that i need to open another Tab or what??

    No Menu bar
About Control or security if u dont wants to enable Java script or Java for one site u cannot

Maybe im wrong and im not computer expert either ..Just curiosity

Those numbers aren't as bad as i expected them to be.

Chrome should have won all those tests, it didn't because it has a bug. The bug has to do with the speed of connections, at best i get 150KBs, opera easily gets 400KB/s

This means the speed of actually downloading the files which make up a website end up being way slower in chrome, the rendering might be faster but waiting for the file to reach chrome takes longer than the rendering does on other browsers

I hope they fix this bug soon (the bug has to do with the way chrome reads files so the same problem remains when using local copies)

Chromium SVN builds get the exact same results as tracemonkey.

In my tests Chromium Build 1716 is 18% faster than google chrome beta.

This is almost exactly the same number as tracemonkey wins by
