Google Chrome due for release tomorrow. Comic book introduction. Will be interesting to see what this brings to the party, although I distrust google doubt I'd be eager to use it.

Looks like Google has decided to fight the new IE8 InPrivate mode with a browser feature of their own!

LOL :thumb: And you just know that Chrome will prevent all MSN Live Sponsored Site ads from obtaining any browser details!

Wonder if this new Google browser will be implementing a part of the Green Border security concept which they purchased a fair while ago?

Well, the tabs are going to be sandboxed; maybe they used Green Border to implement that.

I just read this elsewhere. I have to say I am VERY much sitting in the middle of the fence about this one. I'm thrilled there will be yet another browser to choose from, and Google has a lot going for it right out of the gate with its long popularity and power in the online world. However, yes, the privacy issue needs to be under a magnifying glass with them. I for sure want to read the privacy policy word for word.

Does it HAVE to look like it's a first attempt at making a browser...back in 1996? That thing is about as ugly and unpolished as I think it can get. Oh well, if the thing works well and isn't full of holes, I'll bite.

Yeah, we'll see how this goes. All I can say is don't expect to get your hands on it until probably Wednesday. If it's anything like the FF3 release, there will be a looong line ahead of you.

LOL, I felt that way about FF when it first came out, always looked to me like it had been designed by a 10 yr old (clever 10 yr old mind) But once it's been out in the wild for a while there'll be a few skins and then it'll look much better no doubt. For me with google it will always be the privacy concern that lurks.

Doesn't it look like Safari without the metal look?

the way i see it is like this:the more competition the better
if goole browser is the fastest opera will start optimizing their browser to make it the fastest once again etc..

Wouldn´t touch it with a 15 foot pole, I don´t trust Google anymore since I saw quite strange behavior from the Google toolbar a while ago, I even made a thread about it over here. But yes I also wonder if they have used technology from GreenBorder, I´ve read that they build it from scratch (though I´ve read it´s based mostly on FF and Apple´s WebKit) with a fast new javascript engine. Interesting, but it will probably suck, especially for power users like myself.

all tabs are seprate processes so one tab cant crash the whole browser.
one tab crashing the whole browser has always annoyed me.
hopefully opera, firefox,IE and safari will adopt that idea also.
once it comes out i will try it in a virtual machine.

    Google Chrome

    Hi,

Google's purchase of Greenborder has resulted in Chrome. See http://books.google.com/books?id=8UsqHohwwVYC&printsec=frontcover

On topic question: Any one any pre test or reviews found besides http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2008-09-01-n47.html and wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome

The download for USA only can be found on http://www.24timepass.com/technologies-stuff/google-chrome-beta-download-free-internet-browser.htm

My (off topic) thoughts: What would an average PCjoe/jane with Vista32 need on additional security when having LUA + VISTA FW (okay maybe with Vista FW control free)+ ThreatFire free + Windows Defender + Google Chrome.

    Regards Kees

That's supposed to be one of the prominent new features of IE8.
