My favourite security app is DefenseWall.
Its light and easy to use for a hips program, i am not constantly bombarded with difficult to understand pop ups.

It has come a long way these past 12 months and Ilya has some nice features coming shortly.

Response to support is very fast via email or the support forum.
Realistically priced both for the program and then for prolongation after 12 months.

I was ready to post that GeSWall pro is my favorite and that I couldn't do without it. But then I thought about how terrific Acronis True Image has been for me. I suppose that my imaging software has to rank in front of GeSWall as far as which security app I ultimately depend upon.

With XP I'd say ShadowUser Pro, with Vista I'm undecided between DeepFreeze and FD-ISR Rescue: They seem to complement each other perfectly.

Quote, but with a fw router too ;) ! System Safety Monitor ( waiting for next version with file protection ) and, when I 'm able to find it, Real Time Defender ( I know PS ).

Personally there's no security software i couldn't live without. The only piece of security i wouldn't be without is my hardware firewall, i'd give up all my security software before i gave that up.

Acronis version 8 plus the external harddrive to store the images.

It has repeatedly proven its value.

If something goes wrong, just restore a clean image !

Acronis True Image Echo Workstation with Universal Restore feature. With this one app, any disaster whether security, poor written coded apps, hardware failure, etc related can be easily rectified.

I consider disk imaging a must on any computer, but my favorite program is DefenseWall
for same reasons Tony posted, also using it on family computer, no problems, no conflicts.

You're probably right. But either way it works.

F-Secure AV as I have found it to be very good at detection and yet simple.
    Makes me feel secure.

After F-Secure, I would say its Evidence Eliminator, followed by Zemana AntiLogger, A2, SSM, UnHackMe, Wormguard, MBAM, then SAS.

I believe I can defeat most security challenges with FirstDefense ISR and Paragon 9 Drive Backup. These two programs make life much easier.

I'll give FD credit for taking me to the next level when experimenting with programs. I used to be afraid I'd break XP and that kept me from learning the computer OS and other programs. I've come a long way with the help of FD.

Paragon 9 Backup has not failed in multiple attempts and after trying Acronis TI with multiple failures that means even more confidence when learning and experimenting.

DefenseWall may be an emerging new security favorite with Vista HP because it's quiet, light, and makes OS a fortress.

    That's a no brainer :thumb:

    Very Interesting theme here:
    Notably, in no special order:
    - Imaging/System rescue-restore tools
    -Sandbox/Hips
-Router/ FW tools hard and soft :shifty:
    -on demand scanners

Little acclaim for AV in real time: or is that just a given: that there will be "something" sitting threre
