    Few days ago I updated from TI Workstation 9.1.3887 to 9.5.8115. I installed over the existing installation, first in my test system (Windows XP SP3). Everything seemed to function fine, so I did the same in the main system. After some incremental backups I wanted to go back, but the restore failed:

    When it comes to the PC's reboot (for deletion of the partition), I see Acronis Loader starting. It shows some messages (No RAID disks, No volume groups found (what ever that means)), then the GUI comes up, starts analysing the partitions, and goes away after some seconds. The PC reboots, nothing has changed. The last entry I can see in TI's log is that I answered 'Reboot' for deletion of the active partition.

    When I start the recovery process from the test system it goes through without any problem. Of course, here no reboot is necessary, because the target partition is not the active one.

    A TI repair didn't solve the problem. Any help highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

    Hello mumdigau,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Remote Workstation Disk Backup Software.

    We are sorry for delayed response.

    Please try using Acronis Bootable Rescue Media to perform the restore.

    If that doesn't solve the problem, please try booting with "acpi=off noapic" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    If the issue persists, please collect some information to let us investigate it thoroughly:

    Please create Acronis Report, Windows system information and Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will do our best to investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.

    Thank you.

    That works (of course). But I'd like to "repair" the TI windows installation so that recovery functions as it should be. As I said de-/reinstall didn't solve the problem.

    Best regards

    Hello mumdigau,

    We are sorry for delayed response.

    Please notice that when you start a restore of the system partition from within Windows, Acronis True Image reboots into the exact same Linux environment used in Acronis Bootable Rescue Media (full version).

    Could you please confirm that you encounter the following behavior:
    - Acronis Bootable Rescue Media (full version), created with your installed Acronis True Image, performs the restore operation properly;
    - When started from Windows, the same restore operation fails with symptoms you described;
    - Uninstalling Acronis True Image (and removing its folders), then installing it again doesn't fix the problem.

    Thank you.

    I have the exact same problem as mumdigau but it also happens for me on full backups and also happen in the previous build (8076 if I remember well).

    For me, retrying the restore under Windows a second time works: the Acronis Loader loads and restores fine, but it just reboots doing nothing the first time. It is very annoying to go through the same process twice and it is even more annoying to boot from the CD.

    My computer is a Dell Precision M4300 with the latest BIOS updates.

    Hello Vorenus,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Corporate Disk Backup Software.

    We are sorry for delayed response.

    Please be aware that we have not heard about such problems of Acronis True Image before and so we would like to investigate this one with your assistance, if you have time for this of course.

    Could you please confirm that you encounter the following behavior:
    - Acronis Bootable Rescue Media (full version), created with your installed Acronis True Image, performs the restore operation properly;
    - When started from Windows at the first time, the same restore operation fails with symptoms you described;
    - When started from Windows at the second time, the same restore operation performs properly;
    - Uninstalling Acronis True Image (and removing its folders), then installing it again doesn't fix the problem.

    If all of the above is correct, could you please film the process of two restores (failure and successful ones) with a video camera; or create series of photo.

    Please also create Acronis Report and Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

    Thank you.
