Can one create backups with filenames that contain the date or some incremental nr?

Subject says it all. I want to create scheduled backups but not overwriting the same file over and over again, but using different filenames.
Ideally one could also specify to keep the last <n> copies.

Can one do this with Accronis True Image Home version (v11.0)?

<Sigh> Yes. Search or browse these forums and/or read the PDF manual and/or read the beginner's guides that are linked to from signatures of some frequent posters here.

<Posting a blindingly obvious question, that has been answered many times before, without first searching or reading is bad netiquette.>

Yes, read the User guide sections on creating and using Backup Locations and on creating Tasks.

ATI, since version 10 can automatically uniquely name backup files, incorporating the creation date/time in the name and automatically manage the deletion of old files within user-set limits.

And i prior versions an ersatz version of this was available if one used the hiden partition Secure Zone.

You can find the user guide

In principle I fully agree. However, I searched the ATI online help and even found the interesting sentence:
    -------------
    ...
The main principles of backup locations organization are:
    • automatic naming of backup files
    ...
    -------------
but nowhere did I find any details on HOW to actually do this. Could it be, that this automatic file naming is only supported in the Enterprise version or such?

And the location provided does not contain any manual for ATI Home version v11.0. So I tried a few others that sounded closest (like Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation), but that website seems to have a problem - whatever link I click I get: "Network Timeout - The server at download.acronis.com is taking too long to respond."

The same holds for many links I found in misc. signatures. Has there been a major domain renaming or reorg. lately or is this just a temporary outage?

As shieber suggested: read the User guide. The User guide is a long PDF file, not the on-line help.

Information about the option "Backup Locations" can be found by downloading this text file from CatFan432 plus for the same topic in the sticky found on the first line of my signature below. This thread discussion is interesting because it also shows what some of the user errors are.

Create and Configure Backup Locations Incremental.txt by CatFan432

Sadly the URL for the text file does not work.

    EDIT.

    Working now. Odd!

And for those who miss the text file the first time round you must look for CatFan's msgs and the attached file which is in quite small type.

Thanks - the referenced text file finally got me going. The hint to define a "Backup location" first was the missing piece.

PS>: All other suggestions had not work, because all Acronis download servers have problems (since several days already!). Has this company folded up? Or is their sys-admin on vacations?
