Can one create backups with filenames that contain the date or some incremental nr?

Subject says it all. I want to create scheduled backups but not overwriting the same file over and over again, but using different filenames.
Ideally one could also specify to keep the last <n> copies.

Can one do this with Accronis True Image Home version (v11.0)?

Yes, read the User guide sections on creating and using Backup Locations and on creating Tasks.

ATI, since version 10 can automatically uniquely name backup files, incorporating the creation date/time in the name and automatically manage the deletion of old files within user-set limits.


And i prior versions an ersatz version of this was available if one used the hiden partition Secure Zone.

In principle I fully agree. However, I searched the ATI online help and even found the interesting sentence:

but nowhere did I find any details on HOW to actually do this. Could it be, that this automatic file naming is only supported in the Enterprise version or such?

And the location provided does not contain any manual for ATI Home version v11.0. So I tried a few others that sounded closest (like Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation), but that website seems to have a problem - whatever link I click I get: "Network Timeout - The server at download.acronis.com is taking too long to respond."

The same holds for many links I found in misc. signatures. Has there been a major domain renaming or reorg. lately or is this just a temporary outage?

As shieber suggested: read the User guide. The User guide is a long PDF file, not the on-line help.

In German edition you have no impact to the filenames using backup locations.
They are automatically assigned/created from Acronis Ti.

Thanks - the referenced text file finally got me going. The hint to define a "Backup location" first was the missing piece.
