Hi. We currently have Echo Server (non-enterprise edition) and we are thinking about purchasing Universal Restore. Is that module available for just the server version?

How exactly does Universal Restore work? We have some older Dell servers that we are now phasing out with Supermicro custom built servers. Would Universal Restore allow us to image a Dell to a Supermicro? What about RAID controllers? Chipsets? Going from SATA to SCSI drives?

    Hi,

Yes UR is available for Server Edition, also Enterprise Server and Workstation.

UR when you restore image goes into Windows Registry to change the SCSI RAID driver listed, and injects the driver if it is not present in Windows.
You will need an extracted version of the RAID Drivers handy when you restore, and "voila" !
You even have a choice of converting image to a virtual image VMWare, Microsoft (and virtual iron or parallels i think)
