I have AVG Anti Spyware with lifetime on 2 computers.

The one is fine but the other one says my subscription has expired and has flipped back to the free version.

Is there anyway to fix this?

I went to renew the subscription and it wants me to purchase AVG 8.0 internet security suite.

What is up with the mess?

About how to fix the subscription issue I don't know.

About renewing subscription: AVG has discontinued AVG Anti-Spyware and included Anti-Spyware into their new AVG 8 product(s). AFAIK, based on messages in this forum, support for AVG A-S will end at the end of this year.

You should contact AVG as you should have received an email advising that they were ending Ewido and the lifetime license would be converted to a license for AVG product that would expire at the end of 2009.
I got my email from Sales@grisoft.com.

Yes it is a bummer (and a ripoff for me). It was a good product, but obviously AVG only wanted it for its subscriber base.

:thumbd: This really disgusts me. I liked the AVG anti-spyware and have other anti-virus, etc. So, what do we do, go back to the free version? I will not purchase the new version with all the stuff I don't want.

No, what AVG wanted was Ewido's technology - the trojan detection experts and the emulator engine of Ewido (+heuristics), all of which have been enhanced and implemented in AVG 8.0.

246 days here, and sadly most of that will go to waste ;(

I doubt they offer refunds from 2 year license
