I did state in an earlier post I was using Chose automatically.

I've now uninstalled ESS and replaced it with NIS.

I think it's time, I stop trying to get small time companies to support my network infastructure.

Unless i got this wrong this had to do with problems on a single PC only and not a whole network infrastructure. You make it sound like you had hundreds of PC with ESS installed.
You certainly didn't make it an easy job for eset to give you support, but since you no longer use ESS i guess you are fine now using another product.

It's a pitty, especially now that we have significantly improved proactive detection of some special malware that only a very few AVs detect. At any rate, you can run an online scan in the future to see if something is detected. Concerning the large update and the subsequent delay in downloading, measures have been taken to prevent that from happening in the future.

I currently have 8 computers that were running ESS.

They are running NIS 2008 on a 15 day trial at the moment, because I can't afford the risk of infection.

I have tried to get ESET to support me, where have I not? They keep telling me, it's a server issue. Then I am accused of using pirated software and finally all the support I get is told to check it is using Choose automatically.

I don't know what kind of communication you had with eset support except what i read in this thread so there might be a lot i don't know about, but from what i read eset have done some work to solve the update problem according to marcos. You posted that you still have problems and they asked you for a wireshark log that is very helpful to further analyze the communication between your clients and the update servers. As far as i understand eset is trying to give you support and help solving the problem, but without that log it might be hard. All i'm saying is that it would be much easier for eset if you try to provide the requested information (in this case the wireshark log) instead of repeating that you still have problems. I believe they have done a bit more then telling you to check if you have update server set to "Choose automatically". Sometimes the people trying to help you to solve a problem need some help from you as well to find and solve the problem. Giving eset the requested information might speed up this troubleshooting a lot.

If you decide to give ESS another try why not provide eset with the wireshark log then maybe the problem can be solved? Unless you decide to use another product i guess it would be in your interest as well to find the problem.

I don't think the statement "Currently only cracked versions should be having problems updating to the latest version" was meant as an accusation. Since you have a valid license this statement does not refer to you. It's not the same as saying everyone that have update problems use a cracked version.

Gan's post above makes a lot of sense. If Rapid Dr3am is happy with the move to a different AV vendor, there really is nothing further to be said in this forum. He has made it abundantly clear that he is dissatisfied with Eset because, in his opinion, he did not receive the service levels he expected from them. I wish him well, as I am sure most other forum members do, and hope he receives the levels of service from his new AV provider.

Insofar as I am concerned, it is as well that Rapid Dr3am is moving on. The allegation implicit in this thread's heading is that Eset plan these annoyances. This is libel, pure and simple, even if Eset cannot be bothered to see it as such. Moreover, the four-letter word implied by the four asterisks in the title only lowers the tone of this forum and does not add to its general thrust.

Finally, permit me to add that I am not an Eset employee, shareholder or blind fan.

    Regards,
    Lane

If you are still having problems, it must be caused by something else than by the update servers. Please export your ESET registry key and convey it to me (I'll PM you a link to a batch file that will do it when run).
