I believe what he means was that he couldn't get himself familiarized with the program.

It's the online store at Kaspersky.com, not real stores, those sell only blacklisted keys...

I've been running build KAV 357 a.b.c. primarily (when not testing other builds) on my XP Pro desktop machine and it's been, overall, performing solid for me. I'm using Online Armor with KAV. This morning, I've installed the (expected US early next week, Monday or Tuesday?) KAV 454 TR build.

Looks very good. The "update" from 357 to 454 went without issue. The 454 TR build allows usage of registered license keys.

    Thanks, Bubba 1.
That is good to know. Do you know if the .454 will install over the .357 which I am running. It is running very well.

    Regards,
    Jerry

KAV 2009 is running great on my computer. when it first starts up, the updates do have an impact on performance, but everyone knows, they load alot of new defs in there. otherwise, there is a vast improvement in the quickness of the computer.
i am also pleased that they have kept my favorite feature "automatic shutoff" which entices me to do a deep scan while i am sleeping. it's an energy saver.

Been running it for months now.

    Still love it.

I must say though.... they sure are taking their sweet time to release it 'officially' in North America... seeing how it's been out for over a month now in most Countries.

I have the idea that Kaspersky wants to bring out an absolute spotless version to the rest of the world. And I can't say that I detest that idea if it a fact. The users have given a lot of advise to bugs, etc. So the 'real' world version will not be the 357.

    Hi Jerry,

Yes sir .. that is exactly what I did and it "upgraded" flawlessly.

Glad to hear you too have good experiences with build 357 ..

I've also installed KIS 454 TR on a laptop and have been playing with it. I don't have near the history with Kaspersky as many others .. starting in the v6 series.

Having missed, somehow, playing with Avast over the years, I uninstalled KIS7 for a look and "discovered" Online Armor. :) And, liked it enough to purchase. Though KIS7's fw wasn't/isn't any slouch .. I hear KIS2009's might be much better.

At some point, I'll probably move back to it on the desktop and use the KAV/OA combination on our two laptops.

    Hi Bubba1,
Thanks a lot, and it is good to know I do not have to go through the uninstall/install process.

I have a high regard for Avast, and it has been my "Fallback" AV. I have installed the free version on a couple of friend's PCs and they have used with satisfaction.

    Regards,
    Jerry

    Ditto!

I too am impressed with Avast enough to recommend to/install for friends. A solid, feature rich, package is their free offering. I also test-drove their Pro offering. Avast is smooth, resource light, rock solid stable, with formidable self protection capability and is updated frequently.

After initially thinking otherwise, I believe the new Kaspersky 2009 now proves itself to be less .. "complicated", operationally, than it's predecessor .. and, I will be recommending it to all but the most "technically challenged" friends and family.

    Hi emperordarius,

All my testing has been of the interactive variety .. and, while "automatic mode" sounds great, I wonder how well it actually functions?

    Have you tested auto?

Antispam in v2009 work great here since I installed it some months ago. v7 had alot of false positive or slip through, but this version is catching them all and only 1 FP :)

Well one thing I've noticed it's slow to start at system startup and the updates have been DAMM slow... :(
