After updating from 3304 to 3307, whenever I try running a scan, it crashes. It froze my entire computer up one of the times, had to do a hard reboot. Its not locking up at any specific file, because it first crashed at 59% on a roxio file, then at 29% in documents and settings, so its not file- related. Can anyone help with this, I think its due to the antivirus and antispyware scanner module update today.

Traced it down and scanned it, didn't crash. Like I said its crashing at random, doesn't seem to matter what file its scanning.

I cant believe noone else is having these issues, its happening on 2/2 computers with NOD32 installed.... And I would hope just because its only happening to me and not others that Eset would still work on a solution for this.

They claimed update 3308 might fix it, but it just made things worse. I have all the same problems, crashing freezing and so on, except now, after I had to unplug my laptop as it completely froze, I booted up, and half my icons were messed up. I'm glad to see they are trying to help though...

My NOD32 AV froze at 41% when doing a scan tonight, on a file that has been on the computer for months. I deleted the file that it froze at and started another scan, but very quickly got a Windows error message: ESET Service has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Running Windows XP Home SP3 with NOD32 vs 3.0.667, data base 3308.
No recent changes to system and XP SP3 has been installed for about 2 months.
Online Scan with TrendMicro Housecall revealed nothing and I am also scanning with Kaspersky Online.
This is the first time I have had trouble with NOD32. It is also installed on my other computer, but I have not tried a Scan on it until I see what is happening. This sounds like the other problems reported in this thread.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for helping

I'm back here again. Sorry for not reposnding faster, but you posted here about midnight our time :)

Does running ecls.exe from within the ESET installation folder make a difference or the kernel service crashes as well?

HEY you're not the only one. 3.0.669.0 is crashing on me at random places durning a scan...

I'm running XP Pro SP3. I just did a fresh install of XP too, so it's CLEAN, and
SP3 is all I've installed so far, I haven't done any other windows updates...

I just had it crash at 37% and then at 43%...

    Here's my screenshot:

    http://img525.imageshack.us/my.php?image=96826274ca3.jpg

In 15+ years of using an AV I've never had one crash till today. I can't believe this crap, ESET has been going downhill with the release of 3.0.

I hope someone has some answers for this...

    THANKS

P.S. I sent them an email, this is going to be interesting to hear what they have to say about this...

I guess they didn't thoroughly test the update before release.... This reminds me of beta testing, NOD32 made my pc so unstable and crashed constantly, except its the final product... I had to uninstall it, I don't want to damage my pc. I constantly had to unplug it as it would freeze my computer. This wouldn't have been so bad if Eset acted fast on this, but no... Feel like I wasted $80, as I cant even use NOD32 on my computers.

NOD32 use to be my hero, but that was in the day with version 2.

Version 3 has been crap from the get go, and I dumped it when it came out after playing with it, later hoping to return some months down the road to find ESET back on top of their game.

Nov. 2007 this thing was released. Now here I am again trying it once again, all this time later to then have it crash during a scan. If this is still the best AV out there, man I'd hate to see what the competition has to offer...

Durning this entire period of waiting I was using Avira and really happy, except one thing, it used more memory then I wanted, but it still wasn't that bad, and in the 7-8 months of using it, I had ZERO problems, and I wish I could say that for NOD32...

NOD32 v3 should of never been released, it's still not a final or stable product.

Dave16 I hope you contacted ESET over this...

Hopefully this post doesn't get deleted. It worked fine on both computers, until I updated yesterday morning from 3304-3307, and that's when I started having these problems. 3308 did NOT fix any problems at all. Its so unstable on my computer I cant leave it installed.
