I'm currently trying it out, alongside Avira Premium, Look 'n' Stop, and WinPatrol Plus. Had to disable the Web Threat Protection (leaving only Bot scan on) since it conflicts with Avira's webguard, but otherwise it's light and totally unobtrusive.

It's not an add-on to any browser, but in fact a program on its own. Sort of like a stand-alone webguard and anti-bot. At least that's what I believe it's doing, for I have not actively tested it i.e. visiting known rogue websites to see if alerts are generated.

    Hey fried_oyz,
yes it is a standalone webscanner and antibot. it blocked access to a known malicous website. adware.
very nice program. simple and gets the job done.
uses the microsoft reccomended form of filtering level aka ndis filter.

The web protection is an integrated part of Trend Micro internet security 2008 according to their tech support and their web site. But it is nice they also made a stand alone version also:thumb:

it is free or at least there is a free version. There is a link at the bottom of this article to the free version http://www.appscout.com/2008/04/trend_micro_releases_free_web_protection_add-on.php

after looking it seems that trend might have changed their mind concerning a free version. The link actually leads to a trial

[EDIT]Isent a message to TM sales support to see if they can verify if there is a free version and if not what the pricing will be.I will post what they reply when I get it.

Indeed, there's no mention of any trial period in the program itself. If it's really free, then it's a very good tool to have running in the background!

Well I recieved the email from Trend Micro customer support and to be blunt they are pretty dense beyween the ears. They had absolutly no info on the web ad on at all. They gave me four different numbers for retail support and no one at any of the numbers knew one thing about the web add on either. In conclusion if you need support from Trend Micro, Good luck to you. I guess you could install the web ad on and see if it actually will be non functional after 90 days.
