My True Image Home 11 with latest build has worked great since way back on V8 with my iomega 80gb external usb drive.

I put on a Maxtor One Touch (without Maxtor software). It is a 500 gb drive. Works fine with system, Oh yes I have XP Pro SP3, 512mb memory and 1.5GHz processor.

When starting TI I get stuck on splash screen that says Analyzing partition J: for 30 minutes ++++ Task manager shows no cpu or io on the TI task, yet it does finely finish. I have even written down the io count, it doesn't increas while in this analyzing mode.

    Does anyone know why?

Interesting notes. If I don't have Maxtor on and boot, turn Maxtor on after boot and then start TI, Analyzing goes really fast 2 seconds. Also fyi Disk Director does same thing, but so far even 30 minutes isn't enough analyzing!

I have spent over 11 hours and I bet it is something simple. All devices look good and all works fine in standard XP. Only a problem with Acronis products.

TI 8 on my compaq laptop act the same way, exact same. Different computer and version. Now except for the fact that 2 days ago I was trying this with a Western Digital Essential I would say it was a Maxtor problem.

It may be the Distributed Link Tracking Client Service that is causing this problem; what you report has seemed to happen to TI users after they upgrade to XP SP3 or Vista SP1. See post #2, item 2 here for instructions on how to fix.

Thanks, I have already disabled Distributed Link Tracking Client Service, but have not tested if it helped yet. Hopefully, it will meet with success. First I thought I would run another image as my image I keep restoring from (7-11-200:cool: needs just a little catching up to be current. I done that twice now. Sometimes my just hangs for hours on TI and DD and won't delete task or shutdown. Still works great on iomega 80 gb drive.

I been trying to find My Network Folder. Can anyone tell me where it is located? I don't have much of a network, just connect to my laptop now and then, I seem to remember the My Network Folder when working in a large environment and had a folder on one of the servers. Would I even have one at home?

In XP the folder is called "My Network Places" and you can find it on the START menu. Or, if not there, open My Computer and look at the links under "Other Places" on the left side of the window.

Thanks, that is where I thought you meant. I only have one folder (under internet) linked to a web site I maintain using an ftp unc path name. Not sure why it's even there, but it's been there for a couple of years. Then under local is UNC path to my computer name.

I disabled distributed link tracking and did an image. Will teat and post results later.

Disabling Distributed Link Tracking Client Service, fixed the problem mention in my first post. I read some other threads and it appears Acronis doesn't see this as a problem on their end. I differ with them on that opinion. I did a lot of work before coming to this forum. I worked through my drivers for the USB PCI card, device manager............Even disabled Zone Alarm for awhile. Did so many things I screwed up myself and had to recover with a recovery CD. That was my own fault.

I still don't understand why this problem didn't happen with my 80gb iomega (has been running for years). It only happens when I put up the WD 500GB (which I returned) and the Maxtor OneTouch. Also it did the same on my Compaq laptop with TI8 (which BTW is rock solid software).

Seems to me that this is an important clue, 80 GB works with Distributed Link Tracking Client Service on Automatic and Maxtor 500GB don't work unless powered off during boot. Yet Maxtor works fine when Distributed Link Tracking Client Service disabled, even after several restarts and Maxtor powered up during boot.

Acronis, I think this is a bug you need to resolve. I beta tested several of your products (including TI 11) and every time I found a problem you guys agreed. I believe this to be another problem and this work around is good for now, but I don't believe this is a good solution for long term or for other users with files on a server with drives mapped to those servers. I think they may have problems with disabling Distributed Link Tracking Client Serviceo_O

Also was able to backup, verify and restore an image on my compaq using TI 8. Come on Acronis, fess up and fix the problem. It only took ZA 2 days to suck it up and fix a problem where MS patch KB951748 stopped all internet connections.

KOlo, Thank You for your advice.

    Hello Diverjerry,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for delayed response.

Please be aware that the problem is being investigated by our Development Team. Most likely, it will be fixed in the next version of Acronis True Image. We are sorry, but the exact time-frame isn't defined yet.

    Thank you.
