    I agree, this is a separate discussion.
    I only wanted to make it clear that there is a difference between Returnil and Sandboxie after reading the whole thread.
    Some users might get the idea that Returnil is enough, because it looks that way.
    In most cases it will be "Returnil and Sandboxie" and not "Returnil alone".

    Well, skipping thru the mess of discussion, one of Erik's premises is wrong. To clarify the distinction. Shadowdefender does have the ability to shadow any and all drives. Returnil only has the ability to shadow c: BUT, it can block access to other drives, so while not shadowing them it does indeed protect them. Just a question of preference.

    @Pete

    Where is that option (block access to other dirves) in Returnil? I can't find it. Are you talking about the beta with the anti-execution feature?

    (did you see my last PM?)

    Yes, I believe it's the beta. Not sure if it was released. On the PM, I'll pm you.

    In sofar current Returnil can't block,SBIE can do,so Retunil with SBIE make for a nice combo. ;)

    In a fact they do well together. Right now they both start but are for On-Demand Only purposes in my system. Wouldn't want to be without them though.

    Also, for all those new to Sandboxie. It can only work it's "security magic" for whatever is running (or trying to run) in the sandbox. In other words, if you move malware out of the sandbox and execute it, it will do what it wants on a Returnil protected computer and possibly read or write to other partitions/drives. When you reboot, the malware should be gone on your system partition, but remnants may be in other locations IF the malware was programmed to do so. This is the main reason I run other security softwares and scan everything I download. Plus I'm nosey and like to be alerted when I happen to stumble onto something LOL.

    So, if your wanting to run only SBIE and Returnil as a goal, there is nothing wrong with running other security softwares until you get a grip on how the two work and how infections occur. Then you can wean yourself off the other programs when you feel more comfortable.
