    I only voted for 1 so I voted Dr Web but I also use Prevx 2.0 along with it.

    PC Tools Anti-Virus (free) missing from the list above.. Found more hidden danger than the trusty NOD32 or F-Prot did or did remove it. I've tried all what you have listed for years since the first one for DOS back in the day.

    Avast active, Avira/AntiVir on demand (just in case). I just haven't been able to give up on anti-virus software yet. :doubt:

    A while ago I couldn't get rid of a rootkit so I tried plenty of AV's some of them including Nod32 & Kaspersky but they could not get rid of the rootkit and I finally tried Avast and it got rid of it.... GO AVAST!

    Although it seems they are not as numerous as once were, the biggest asset of any AV in my book is one that can most successfully then others "CLEAN" infected files made inaffective by file infector viruses.

    As far as Rootkits, they are really a piece of cake and it should be easy once identified supporting files are located to pull them out and/or disengage their drivers by unhooking them from the SSDT Table, sometimes hidden where i hope AV's have the proper tools to surface them. I always had more trouble trying to find those pesty hidden Dll's to unregister them, and always remember to look in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root for their LEGACY entries because they are almost always locked in by PERMISSIONS that have to be manually changed to FULL CONTROL under ALLOW.

    I have used NOD32 for years. With version 3 I had to go to Avira on two computers. CPU would stay at 100%.

    Dr.WEB happy user for about 4 months. I find it to be the best av for MY needs, that is light, light and.. light!
