antivirus for windows server 2003

Hello,
all i want is a list of antivirus products that are compatible with windows server 2003.
i will do all the evauating and testing. no comparisions at all in this thread.
my list so far is f-prot
btw prices would help.

I'm using NOD32 Biz ver 3 on Server 2008. Twister also worked. I assume these would also be good for Server 2003.

Although Sophos worked fine the amount of FP's was amazing.

 

He wants the server to work after installation right ?

I also believe that Eset has a 2003 version.

 

What kind of issues are we talking about?

You simply ~catch~ a company you want to evauluate on Server 2003 , visit their web site and check their enterprise solutions . Pretty much any AV vendor you know offers Windows Server solutions (this includes Windows Server 2003 , because it is like XP in the Microsoft server solutions)

the main problem here is the cost.
1. its normally more expensive to buy a license for windows server 2003 and 2. its harder to find the pricing and download trial for it.
i mean if for example someone could get me a cheap deal on a certain product they can PM me with info.

 

Well , let's not forget generally companies only use Windows Server 2003 It is understandable it is difficult because AV vendors wants to have your information in order to keep you closer to them and buy their product . Simply business

i have started emailing companies stating the situation.
so far emailed f-secure and trying to find the right email address for other companies.

Filseclabs' AV is very cheap (~30USD) for a lifetime license. People complained about FP's with the product, but I found it had a lot less than Sophos.

 

Try these:
Nod32 2.7
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 (proactive protection ad mail scan disabled)
McAfee 8.5i (Enterprise version)
McAfee 8.7i beta 2. Should be available for free, but will time out around August 15, 2008.

The problem with with many of the enterprise products is often there is a minimum 5 license purchase.

 

the best deal atm is f-prot for price, but i dont really like f-prot. so would rather pay a bit more for a different product.

your right about user minimum for business products.
nod32 is min 5.
sophos is min 2.
cant find price for kav for file servers.
avg is just one license but is expensive, i could get 5 nod32 business licenses for less than the avg server license on its own.

 

Lodore, Avira also makes a 2003 server edition (not mentioned in the list above), and I think it may be fairly reasonable also, not sure of the price, but the Avira Premium is reasonable, so I would assume the server edition is also. Don't know if you're an Avira fan though, bit it would be one of the best I would think... I may go that way myself after I'm done sampling the possibilities here in the next several days or week.

PC Tools antivirus works very well & its free. I combined this with threatfire in a VM no problems. If you want a firewall Sygate Free or Pc Tools own firewall works.

i downloaded the vba32-server-3.12.6.7-multilanguage.exe and installed it to my windows 2003 server virtual machine. works great.
of course in demo mode so cant change some of the options.
will post in the forum on monday about pricing.
