I just installed TI version 8 on a brand new Dell computer. The first thing I did was to create an image on a second HD. The computer is FUBAR and I desperately need to restore an image. All I get is error "E000101F4 Acronis True Image has not found any hard disk drives". This is strange. It see's the drives in Windows, but not following a reboot.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail. Permissions in registry are set at 'full control".

Can anyone help? I am really desperate. If I can't restore this image I will send computer back to Dell. A priority email sent to Acronis 10 hours ago has not been answered.

Download the Trial of version 11, install it on a working system, then make the bootable Rescue cd and try to do the restore to the Dell with it.

Version 11 will work, but I get the infamous USB disconnect error. Out of the frying pan into the fire. I use my USB flash drives every day. I do not want to be putting up with stuff.

    Any other ideas?

If the Dell case can be opened without breaking any tamper proof seals, can you connect the drive that is in the external case as an internal drive (take it out of the enclosure) and do the restore that way?

I already tried swapping HD's. So far so good. But Windows updates will not install. Acronis really let me down. Version 8 cannot find hard drives and version 11 has the USB disconnect error.

TI should go out of business. If I get this immediate issue resolved I am going to look into Ghost.
