*sigh*, ok, so you're out to prove a point, I see that now. Ok, I'll bite.

    1. The Wilders posts describe only 1 poster. And before you start going on another link-fest, yes, I know he wasn't the only one with problems.

    2. The other two links, I've never seen them. I went by what I've seen in here, if anything, I screwed up trusting opinions in here. Now that that is all settled and you've made your point, the topic is over as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: Sorry for the attitude, I've been here long enough to know that even the most well-regarded programs can go wrong on an individual system. Lesson learned.

Oh, also, the radsofts link, well, I don't put much faith in that since that was obviously written by, I'm betting, a user and not an actual statement backed by fact. The line "puts pictures of people behind bars on the desktop" after removing the software, stick out. That certainly wasn't the case with me. However, due to it being on the rogue list, that's enough evidence for me to eliminate the program for good.

The fact of the matter is you're going to believe what you're going to believe, either because you were taught that way or because it is in your best interest to do so. That applies to virtually anything. Humans are stuborn that way; often they don't listen to reason.

I'm certainly guilty of stubborness at times :) I at least learned to stay clear of things I don't fully understand, sometimes reading the manual isn't enough I guess.

That's why we are here; and by "we" I mean Wilders.

hi, I have been using eraser for all my needs for some time now. but all this talk about EE made me want to give it a try again. I tried it years ago but I must have been an idiot because somehow it corrupted my whole OS and had to reinstall. I was young at that time though. So I thought I'd give it another try after all the talk about how it gets the job done but the name sucks.

So I started the install and I get this...

(I would have uploaded it to here but I haven't found where it is yet, sorry)

Is this a false detection or what ?
But at this time I think I will just stick to eraser.

Where did you download the program at, the normal website or a mirror, P2P?

You got me. It's off a torrent site. I just never knew it was so easy to attach a Trojan to a legit program.

Oh dear, did you scan the file before you executed it and the scanners didn't find anything or what? Though I have done it and came out OK before, generally security apps downloaded through P2P is a really bad idea. To be honest with you, take the advice around the forums here and stay away from EE.

It's always been easy for them. I have a collection from years of incognito sifting thru various virus forums and they have plenty of programs named binders that can add an executable within a valid program, which when started also starts the virus/trojan etc.

HIPS have saved the day in my research where i encountered binded programs.

As far as the best ERASER, i'm still waiting to see which one fills that bill myself.

In order to refocus this thread back to it's intended purpose and to place certain posts in a more appropriate thread, I have merged numerous posts concerning evidence eliminator into the below thread.

merged here---> MBAM & Evidense Eliminator

Off-topic post removed. The topic of this thread is Best Eraser.

As noted above, there were posts in this thread related to the "MBAM & Evidense Eliminator" debate which were merged over to that other, now closed thread. Just because those posts were once here does not mean that that subject can be discussed in this thread again.

I'm sorry, but, we are not going to restart the MBAM vs Evidence Eliminator debate again after the time that has past, in this or any other thread.
