After 1 year...Interesting, this one of the few comparatives which give similar results to my tests, and closest to my idea of antivirus detection.

F-Secure is making some drastic changes in their next version, but dont worry, the GUI wont.;)

F-Secure will be this years Avira once fall gets here and the releases start.

From what I know Antonis (virusp) does not use spyware in his testbed.
Abacre Antivirus is a french antivirus.

I'm sure mcafee's detection will be boosted, not nessesarilly for tests, because I don't really care about them, when 'Project Artemis' is finished.

F-secure has been a top tier av for years. not much can compete with it. certainly not avira.
its getting lighter now as well.

I agree, expecially if heuristics are improved noticeably in the 2009 version.

I disagree, the AV industry always changes, if you remember correctly, norton/mcafee used to be absoulute top contenders back a few years ago, but now F-secure, Avira have taken on the lead. You never really know what the future holds.

I thought the site was run by a virus collector. Given the issues with malware testbed selection already being a major issue with reputable testing sites like av comparatives and av test, shouldn't we be concerned with the legitmacy of these tests?

Ahh, well, lets not turn it into a comparison thread, anyway, you know what I mean, it keeps changing. And do excuse me if I make a couple of mistakes, please keep in mind that I was quite young to understand security very much then. o_O

I had to giggle... apart from that, I didn't really pay much attention. Results seem to echo those of other AV test outfits.

I am not commenting on the validity of tests because we always do. The reality is, to 99 percent, it doesnt matter because just about all of these will keep a normal user safe. So rankings dont matter. But I do know F-Secure has some nice things coming as all of them do, and I just dont know about it.

Abacre Antivirus is 1.17mb big! That's the smallest anti-malware I've ever seen!

Ok so it has 0.00% detection rate, but hey.. nothing is perfect.

Actually the difference stands in the versions between the premium and the free.
    AntiVir version 8.1.00.331 Premium
    AntiVir version 8.1.00.295 Classic

Based on what, do you make such claims? :shifty:
